Career Background

Nielsen, Tampa FL, Mar 2012 to Present

Sr. Solutions Architect

Working on re-engineering BASES - Booz Allen Sales Estimating System platform. BASES was developed in 1977, later on acquired by AC Nielsen. It is used for forecasting the sales of a product which is yet to be launched. Typically, the Client approaches Nielsen with their statement about the new product and the expected result out of the data analysis. It consists of different service options and based on the cost that the client is ready to pay, the type of BASES service is chosen.

At Nielsen I am responsible for building product strategy and architecture for the BASES program targeted for Retail Marketing Research and Analysis. It takes in account inputs from multiple channels such as Media & Display Marketing Data, Point of Sale Data from retailers, Nielsen’s Market Insights program to track consumer behaviors. It’s a $40M product base with revenues around $600 M annually. The product is being built on Microsoft Stack (.Net) and Business Process Integration supported by TIBCO AMX BPM.  My responsibilities include:

·   Product Architecture, Design and Development of technology framework components. For development and design I have a supporting team of developers working both onsite and offshore.

·   Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact and work with implementation teams to deliver.

·   Technical Reviews & project assessments at the different phases of projects. I am instrumental in presenting the strategy and technology state to the CTO office during the periodic tollgate reviews.

·   Lead and Mentor development & design teams for software development with 85+ programmers in different geographies (US, India).

·   Work with business architects, product leaders and define models & interface specifications.

·   Troubleshoot on technical issues with the team. Dive in the performance tuning aspects of the application using Redgate (Ants) Profiling Tool for Memory and Performance.

·   Work on Developer Cookbook, Design Guidelines, Coding Standards, ETL Documentation Standards, UX Behavior Standards and Architecture Document. Responsible to maintain the addendum architecture artifacts for the new technical components we are building.

My achievements are:

·   Realized the “Workbench Platform” architecture grounds up. This platform is used by Nielsen to manage the studies Nielsen conducts for its clients globally.  The online platform has been developed using ASP.NET MVC3 and WCF Services. The unit testing framework uses Pex and Moles.

·   Built the product platform to integrate Workbench Platform (.net) with TIBCO AMX BPM for business process improvement and SharePoint 2010 for Document Management using Client Object Model.

Using this app the idea was to measure brand resonance in real time letting advertisers adjust their TV campaigns in real time.
