2/2000 – 5/2002 Systems Engineer Full life-cycle engineering product
development from initial design to ongoing maintenance of the automated
provisioning system. The automated provisioning system enabled a
complete hands-off installation and configuration of the Operating System and
additional third-party software. The system was crucial to the rapid
deployment of new customer systems and maintaining standard system
configurations across multiple data centers. The system was comprised of a
web based configuration user interface, a modular installation engine, and
utilized a combination of Unix shell scripting, Perl, HTML, Solaris
Jumpstart, and Red Hat Kickstart technologies. Revision control of all
software code was maintained using the open source Concurrent Versions System
(CVS). Produced all associated documentation including standard operating
procedures, engineering specifications and QA test plans. Responsible for compiling and testing new
software and vendor patches to be integrated into the provisioning system.
Regression tested new versions of software. Provided system administration for
a worldwide server infrastructure that comprised the automated provisioning
system. Was part of a team that received an award
for rapidly developing and deploying an asset monitoring system for customer
Unix infrastructure. Spearheaded an effort to replace commercial licensed
