Create and maintain AWS VPC's containing Postgres Databases, MongoDb, Linux Apache Web servers, Ruby on Rails application servers in the AWS Cloud. Created rake tasks that are ran on RoR applications to report statistics concerning the status of the RoR applications. Back up Databases to S3 and Restore Databases from the data in S3. Ruby is my main scripting language. Ansible is used to automate many processes used to gather information about the condition of EC2 instances in the AWS VPC's. I have also created EMR jobs and DataPipe Lines which run the EMR jobs. Set up AWS Alerts to warn of impending troubles with Database and EC2 instances. Setup Custom Metrics in Cloudwatch to monitor systems and send that metric to Cloudwatch, which can is used to determine Auto Scaling, Disk Space, and other metrics.

 

Developed software that moves “Big Data” from various sources to Amazon S3 for storage. Developed software that retrieves data from S3 storage and processes it then stores the result in PostgreSQL databases. Designed a Ruby on Rails(RoR), Kalopsia, middle-tier application which acts as a middleware gateway to backend credit card processors. Kalopsia will accept https connections from other ruby on rails applications requesting credit card payments for any number of card processors. After the request has been serviced, via SOAP or HTTP(RESTful) requests to the backend processor, the data is returned to the requesting RoR application which then forwards the results to a card swipe terminal. Bank of America Alliance Team: On a team of developers that created the online bill payment system for Bank of America. Wrote UNIX shell scripts to remotely grep, via ssh, 50+ linux boxes for errors and report the errors via email to anyone needing the information.

Sustained Engineering Team: Wrote scripts to automate the build and deployment process for products. Developing an intranet with Ruby on Rails to monitor and perform remote data analysis of log files.

Involved with Bass Hotels website(s).

The site (http://www.basshotels.com) allows users to create reservations, join clubs and contains many other features. The applications are written in Java (1.1.6), MQSeries for Java, Oracle(JDBC), DB2(running on legacy system). The application is running on Solaris 2.6 with JRunPro and Netscape Enterprise Server.

Data Warehouse Development Group:

Web (intranet) enabling BH&R data warehouse. Franchisees will have access to reports and be able to do ad hoc queries of the data relating to their hotels via an Intranet. Set up numerous web servers, each offering a service to the users. NCSA httpd and Microsoft IIE. Redbrick Risql, wrote sql queries to gather data for other groups.

Galaxy Group:

Designed, on a team of 20, a 3 tier Client/Server UNIX based application to do online reservations. Digital DEC/Alpha UNIX/C++.
