TS/SCI cleared
professional working on a Big Data, Natural Language Processing, Search
enabled product. I led a team that was building a new analytic engine as a
Product/Solution Architect. Also responsible for the Cloud Architecture for
the product - designed and created a local cloud to support Map/Reduce
(Cloudera Hadoop) as well as services and widget layers. I also implemented a
separate Cloud using Amazon Web Services. Prior to that, I was one of the senior developers/leads on a U.S. DoD project utilizing Big
Data and Natural Language Processing technologies; architected solutions
using Open Source, GOTS and COTS products and solutions.
Technologies used
include Java 1.6, Hadoop, Cloudbase/Accumulo, MapReduce, JEE, Big data, Biz
Analytics, SaaS, Amazon Web Services (EC2, SNS, SQS, SES, Route53, CFN,
Cloudfront, RDS, Elasticache, IAM, CloudWatch, BeanStalk, S3, ELB), Chef,
Puppet, Apache.
Impact:
Product and technology instrumental in bringing in $1 million in new
projects/consulting to company.

I was responsible for architecture definition;
build vs. buy analysis and decisions and hands on development and delivery of
an instant analytics product based on the Software as a Service model in the
Cloud. As Chief geek/developer and head of the R&D division, we used
technologies like Hadoop, Apache Nutch, Apache Solr, Java 1.6, Ant/Maven,
Junit and shell scripts.
Impact:
Architecture of product, key technologies demonstrated and version 0.50 of
product delivered. Product spins off to DataRPM.

Lead and
architect for a critical operational discipline component of the SIR group at
Fannie Mae. I evaluated current architecture, design and implementation of
the performance monitoring application. Working with application architect,
proposed new architecture, design and implementation patterns and
technologies with focus on re-use, generic interfaces and extensible,
maintainable design and implementation. Hands-on design, implementation,
testing, delivery and maintenance.
Lead
Software Engineer, Software Engineering, Comcast,
Washington, DC.
|
01 / 2010 – 04 / 2010
|
I led the T-Search team on designing and implementing a strategic
platform to enable novel ways for search, discovery and recommendation of
content for Comcast subscribers. We used novel techniques like topic
detection, video analysis, face detection, speech recognition, speaker
identification, credit roll detection etc. to obtain, analyze and group
clips/content in novel and unique ways. I proposed and prototyped reference
architecture. Prototyped integration with Facebook and Twitter
APIs – social network based video sharing and as technical lead ensured a
scalable design, implementation and was responsible for delivery.
Technologies
used: Java 1.6, Spring, Hibernate, JEE, SOLR/Lucene, Junit, GWT, Ant,
Eclipse, MySQL, Linux, REST, UML.
Senior
Manager, Software Engineering, Comcast, Washington, DC.
|
01 / 2009 – 01 / 2010
|
From Jan 2009
to Jan 2010, I managed and led the Metadata Analysis
group within Streamsage for the Entertainment Knowledge Base (EKB) product. Product
goal was to ingest data from all sources, normalize, analyze and enhance it. I re-architected the platform to build upon best
practices, tools and standards like Continuous integration, automated builds,
TDD, Spring, Hibernate, JDK 1.6, JEE, Junit, Maven, MySQL, Eclipse and REST.
As
a result of my efforts, I was successful in reducing system down time by 90%.

11 / 2005 – 01 / 2009
|
From
Nov 2005 till Jan 2009, I
led Comcast’s proprietary Video Search and Named
Entity Recognition product lines. Video search integrates into various
company offerings to serve as the search engine to serve media content
relevant to the search terms input by users and/or presenting content similar
to the one they are watching. The product also serves as the key platform in
presenting targeted advertisements to users on the Comcast.net site. I
interfaced with project management, QA, customers and engineers and as
technical lead, led the way in designing, implementing, testing, delivery and
maintenance of product features and releases.
I implemented
software engineering best practices and as a result, I reduced system outages
and back outs by 98% overall. As a result of our work, it is estimated that
the product brought in an additional $4 million in revenue in 2007. A net
increase in revenue of $6 million in 2008 and $7 million in 2009 is
estimated.
Technologies
used: Java 1.5, Oracle, Jboss, JEE (JMS,JSP,Servlet,JNDI,JTA), Struts, Linux,
Ant, WebServices, JMX, Berkeley DB.
