OBJECTIVE: A Position as an Environmental
Project Manager
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
·
A self-motivated and organized professional able to budget
and coordinate all facets of environmental projects.
·
Experience with clearly presenting scientific data to
other professionals and the general public.
·
A customer-service oriented scientist, willing to work
with the public, clients and interdisciplinary teams.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
·
Using a three-pronged approach of landfill gas extraction
and soil vapor extraction to remove the VOC source with
pump/treat/reinjection to remove the dissolved phase, I remediated a
three-square mile multiple-compound VOC plume to below all MCLs in 12
years.
·
Oversaw the design and construction of a $700K upgrade to a
groundwater pump and treat system, including installation of over one mile of
water and communications lines. The project was completed under budget.
·
Currently serving as project manager for a proposed
groundwater pump and treat system at a state superfund site in Arizona. The
project is in conceptual-level design phase with an initial engineer’s
estimate of $6M for final design and construction. The project must be
coordinated to fit the needs of three city departments, two regulatory agencies
and the public before beginning final design in 2014.
·
Managed a 17-acre aerobic bioreactor project intended to
prepare an old landfill for redevelopment by degrading the organic fraction
of the waste to reduce methane generation and surface settlement. The process
successfully achieved 60% degradation in approximately 1 year. I led public
meetings and site tours and presented the technology and operational issues
to the scientific community.
·
Completed the design, installation, operation, reporting
and community involvement for a soil vapor extraction/air injection system at
a EPA Brownfields site with gasoline contaminated soil. After three
years of operation, all soil samples collected met state residential soil
standards. The site was closed on-time and within budget.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
·
Compiled and analyzed available data to determine
subsurface geology, hydrogeology and plume boundaries at a large solid waste
landfill, located in a complex glacially-deposited terrain. I used the
information to renegotiate the redefinition of the “uppermost aquifer”
beneath the waste to the satisfaction of both the owner and the regulatory
agency.
·
Experienced with environmental and risk-based site
assessments in Ohio, Texas and Arizona.
