Outside Plant Engineer (Commercial Business Services)
• Perform site surveys to provide service for both fiber and coax based services to commercial businesses. Meet
on-site with customers to analyze on-property construction. Determine that the customer has the appropriate
space and power requirements to support the equipment that Cox will place. Verify existing plant from the tiepoint
to the service delivery point at the customer site. Construction plans must adhere to Cox construction
guidelines, as well as city specific construction guidelines and constraints. Create field notes in power point to be
used by Cox in-house groups, as well as by the customer to determine approval of build. Create a PA to
determine all material and labor costs associated with the job so that we can create an approved budget.
I worked on cell site jobs for Verizon, Sprint & AT&T.
several major re-designs. Last re-design in 2013 was to create a Price Estimating tool for use by all Cox Arizona
Engineering and Construction. The PA included extensive automation to use entered data to fill out multiple
costs and parts orders, and to interface with a Cox National Work Order.

CAD Designer (Design Engineering - Fiber)
• Design, track and allocate all fiber optic cable in the Cox Central Arizona system; Assign and maintain fiber
allocations within fiber sheaths; update splice drawings showing fiber connectivity at splice cases; analyze field
notes and redlines to incorporate into job design; update ring drawings to detail grouped SONET/Ethernet
network elements contained on the Ring-n-Ring architecture.
• Planning for large scale network upgrade designs, design for mater planned communities; create conduit layouts
for placement at future job sites; create specialized maps based on geocoded site locations for future large scale
rings.
• Revised and created new Design department standards and procedures. Created several manuals with detailed
processes and procedures (M&P’s); Updated and maintained existing Design databases used for fiber allocations;
created new database for tracking of field checks. Updated and revised existing Design PA (including a major redesign)
and the Job Tracking Transmittal.
• Rotating On-Call responsibilities to provide 24/7 support for all fiber optic related outages. Communicate with
personnel on site in the field to determine the exact location of the problem. Cross-reference with
documentation and prioritize the order of restoring service on a temp and permanent basis. Maintain a call to
give updates on status.
• QC maps for correct usage of layers, blocks & general drafting standards; tracking of maps sent out to
contractors; post changes to maps in accordance with designed jobs.

I participated in a team for a major Cox Internal product rollout (GNIS, GNIS Mobile, Webmap & Plot Repository).
The product was a new mapping system to be used by all of Cox Arizona. We had to develop a training program
& give several presentations to small and large groups to demonstrate the tools to all Cox map users.
