Judd I have worked as a
Designer/Drafter for forty plus years. The early part of my career was
spent in the western United States. First in Washington State as a drafter
with Washington State Department of Highways, then in California drafting
subdivision plat maps and commercial parcel maps. I also have drafted plot plans
for multi-apartment housing and designing utility packages for said
developments. My experience is also in the
civil and structural engineering design, working hand in hand in the
construction industry in places like Saudi Arabia, Alaska and Hawaii. I have worked (multi-engineering
disciplines) for development of complexes and subdivisions in the private
sector. Tasked with civil/structural design in the municipal and facilities
engineering, I have also worked as a structural steel/concrete designer in
the oil and gas industry, petro-chem industry and pipeline related projects. My broad experience as a cad
drafter and civil designer, I have learned and developed complete
construction drawing packages and obtained permits. Collected survey information
from GIS software and local property plats etc. Many times requiring field

Designer SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve)
At four different oil storage sites which constitute the SPR or the
governments oil reserve, I managed all the civil components involving for the
most part drainage improvements of ageing facilities. I was also involved
with up-grading buildings, architectural improvements etc. over the course of
five years. I was also the lead designer for improving site security of these
four facilities. INNOVENE (formally SOLVEY, a
manufacturer of plastic pellets) A storm runoff drainage ditch with effluent
discharge from several facilities and with a serious slope failure problem, I
was lead designer for the rectification of said 5000 ft ditch. TDCJ (Texas Dept of Criminal
Justice) Managed multiple small projects, ranging from 100,000 sq. ft.
re-roof to high mast lighting improvements for the death row facility. AIR NATIONAL GUARD: Ellington Air
Force Base Re-roofing Project for two
different building: Design of standing metal seam roof and construction
management of same. Water Line Project: As
construction manager over saw the installation of a new water system for both
potable and fire suppression. PORT OF HOUSTON: Homeland
Security Upgrade We teamed with SAIC for design
and construction management of state of the art camera system installation at
four of the ports most visible terminals. Fluor Daniel Engineers
(1993-1999) Principal Designer ARCO, Prudhoe Bay – As principal
civil/structural designer, designed and drafted modules for municiple
injection of well heads. (Checked all shop drawings prior to construction) MAPCO refinery, Northpole, Alaska
designed and drafted alignment drawings for a residuum pipeline. (Created
drawings by scanning hand drafted plan sheets to Acad format.) FAA NEXRAD (Next Generation
Radar),Middleton Island and Biorka Island Alaska. Designed and drafted construction
drawing packages for two remote plant power stations requiring site plans,
grading plans, mechanical and electrical drawings. This included building modules
for generators and electrical switchgear. Design drawings for fuel oil
tankage and access platforms. Plan and profile drawings of pipeline from sea
going barge to the island power plant facility. VALERO refinery, Texas City,
Texas. Design, draft and check piperack drawings and concrete support
structure drawings. Note: All drafting was done with
either Autocad 13 or14. TACI – Tech Assist. Co. Inc.(1992-1993)
Senior Designer Gulf Interstate Engineering –
Drafted a large portion of concrete foundation facilities of grass roots oil
terminus project in Yeman. Joy Environmental Technology –
Drafted entire structural steel drawing package of a precipitator for Murphy
Oil Co. Note: Drafting was done using
Intergraph Microstation. Stone and Webster Engineering
Corporation (1990-1992) Senior Designer Aramco, Saudi Arabia –
Responsible for the production of the alignment sheets and structural steel
and concrete drawings , with all drawings done on an Intergraph Microstation. S & B Engineers and
Constructors (1989-1990) Senior Designer/Checker ARCO Chemical, Channel View –
Responsible for structural design and checking of drawings for construction
and/or fabrication for ARCO Chemical project. Also designed and
sketched miscellaneous equipment, access platforms and pump equipment support
foundations as required to complete project. Responsible (meaning draft and
check) for providing all pipe support needs in environmental upgrade for
Amoco Oil Co., Texas City, Texas- Included in this task was the verification
in the field for unobstructed locations
for drilled piers and the utilization of existing pipe rack when
possible. This project required the coordination of multiple pipe runs
that extended from one side of the plant to the other, crossing and
paralleling many times. H-R International (1989-1990) Design/Drafter ARCO Chemical – Responsible for
the architectural layout and design of a new control room addition.
This included the civil and structural design drawings being drafted by hand.
(This is about the time CAD drafting was coming into vogue Alyeska Pipeline Service Co (1985-1989) Senior Designer On a continuing phase of the
relining of a 42-inch diameter ballast water pipeline, drafted the temporary
reroute of a 36-inch diameter ballast water pipeline while coordinating other
related tasks such as new access roads, additions to firewater lines to
loading berths, and rerouting of storm water lines. On the first phase of a large
bore pipeline reline project, responsible for developing road systems to
access work sites while minimizing excavation and embankment needs
encountered while working on a mountainside. Injection Station (Pump Stations
4, 7 an 10) responsible for housing the DRA tanks. This task required
design of a building with access platforms, equipment support pads while
coordinating designs of mechanical and electrical. Oil testing laboratory facility,
responsible for architectural design layout and coordination of lab furniture
(cabinets, fume hoods, etc.) needs, with mechanical and electrical
requirements
