Recruited to streamline and implement new product development and manufacturing of the “Home Run” (Optitap) cable assemblies in the FTTH market. Primary job function grew to project management of all new product offerings, including, datacenter product line, and ISP/OSP cable product offerings in the telecomm market. Functions also included support and manufacturing implementation of product manufacturing at our manufacturing facilities in China and Mexico. Also, training on termination, polishing and testing techniques to meet industry EFG, environmental, and mechanical force standards, per TIA/EIA and IEC industry requirements.

As the sole engineer for Fiber Connect, My function was to streamline the manufacturing process as well as work closely with the sales force, in a technical capacity, for new product development in the datacenter market. Fiber Connect was purchased by Leviton Corporation in 2007. The company was previously a conjunction of 2 companies. Advanced Fiber Optic Solutions (Manufacturing) and Fiber Connect (Sales).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·               Responsible for all new product development.

·               Create and maintain all assembly, drawings and testing procedures for SM and MM jumper and Multifiber Optical cable development.

·               Assisted in developing assembly and testing processes for CAT 5e, 6, and 6a, Copper patch cord and trunk cable development.

·               Design, develop and control all drawing’s using Solid Edge 3D CAD software.

·               Trained manufacturing personnel on Fiber Optic and Copper cable assembly as well as cable cutting, polishing, testing and packaging procedures.

·               Develop part number schemes for Fiber Optic and copper product lines.

·               Maintained BOM’s and labor cost analysis for all product.

·               Design and develop cable enclosures for data center rack systems; 1U, 2U, 4U, 6U, and 8U enclosure designs.
