Prepared and installed cat5e, cat6 and single mode and multi mode cable for use in local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). Duties as a Sr. Engineering Technician included installation and maintaining a Fiber Optic and Copper Network in over 75 buildings located on Redstone Arsenal, AL.  I provided support in the planning, design, development, testing, configuration, implementation, integration and maintenance of Fiber Optic and Copper Networks.  Prepared and maintained documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts. Installing, maintaining, terminating, testing and splicing an outside plant (OSP) fiber network which consisted of 300 route miles of fiber optic cable from 24 strands to 144 strand backbone fiber.  Installed voice, data and video in several new Redstone Test Center Buildings which included installing equipment, racks, cable tray systems and copper and fiber optic patch panels.  Built fiber optic cable reels using military grade fiber optic cable.  Installed over 20,000 feet of Sumotoma air blown fiber optic cable. Worked in underground communication vaults installing fiber optic cables.  I served as the lead cable locator.

 

Installed Cat 3, Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6, and multi mode fiber optic cables.  Built distribution closets; including 110, 66 blocks, 110 patch panels, and racks for fiber patch panels,  Punch down and terminated cables; including 110, 66 blocks, 110 patch panels, and Rj45 connectors.  Terminated, and spliced single, multi mode fiber optic cable (fusion and mechanical splices).  Tested copper and fiber optic cables; documented results per requirements set by customer.  Tested fiber optic cables with OTDR, and optical loss test meters.  Tested copper cables with multi meter, and sidekick meter.

 

Strong knowledge in CDWM, FTTP and FTTH installation. 

 

I was responsible for the installation of Secret Internet Protocol Router Network  (SIPRNET) for numerous Redstone Test Center buildings located on Redstone Arsenal, AL  Responsibility included–installation, termination, and test SIPRNET drops, network equipment, conduits,  pull boxes, termination boxes, cabinets, rack, fiber optic cable connectors.
