Professional Profile

30 years in the telecommunication industry, 25yrs with a major telecom. Started in procurement, became a splicing technician, route engineer, then, graduated to an administrative position as a planning engineer. My duties as a planning engineer were to study central office serving areas, forecast growth and generate outside plant projects. These projects were designed to provide the technical methodology and instructions, place all major backbone facilities and identify future lateral placements timed to accommodate future service demands. These projects were designed to identify the most effective method, considering technology and current and future cost impacts. After project approval, project management consisted of construction scheduling, budget and progress monitoring. Outside plant projects are commonly subject to restrictions and regulatory guidelines mandated by State and local municipalities. Planning and coordinating schedules with private contractors, government entities, property owners and other utilities, can be especially challenging for a project manager. Building relationships and networking is a skill that comes natural to me and is essential to the success of the project. Though most of my experiences and training is in the telecom industry, the same principles apply to projects of all kinds. Recently, I have been working as an OSP engineer for different telecom organizations. Working with different proprietary computer applications has never been a problem.

Hayward undergrounding: Planned and designed a project to underground AT&T facilities on a major thruway mandated by the city of Hayward Ca. Designed new underground paths, utilized joint trenches and existing plant. Identified new underground placements, cutover sequences and removal of aerial copper and fiber cables.

Sonora relocation: AT&T mandated to relocate all facilities due to a Caltrans project to construct a bypass for a state highway. Project located in a rural mountainous area in Sonora. This relocation called for new underground and aerial placements, moving manhole locations. Many customers were in isolated locations and had to be fed from different directions requiring pole placements in dense trees and brush.
