Founder

 

Founded the 501(c) 3 after realizing the need for the homeless in the Denver, Colorado area.  Over 10,000 homeless in the area with 30% having prior military service.  Emphasis is placed on Veterans; but no homeless is ever turned away.

 

Fund Raising:  Responsible for reaching out to the business community and individuals to raise funds and seek food/clothing donations.  I have developed key business relationships with large retailers that provide over 50% of current needs.  They will soon be providing 100% of the needs for this winter. 

 

Budgets:  I am responsible for developing all budgets and grant applications for the Board of Directors approval.

 

Leadership:  The key to any non profit is achieving the goal of attracting volunteers that are fully committed to the cause and then provide them with the direction, support and tools to be successful in changing the lives they touch.  I'm happy to say that we have accomplished that within the organization.

 

Accomplishments:   I have reached our financial goals and commitments each year and recently feed our 10,000 lunch.  This is not a milestone that we wanted to see, but since the homeless population is increasing we are happy for the accomplishment.

Empowerment: I lead the development and implemented plans for residential, business and commercial/enterprise sales to achieve desired results.   Telephony sales increased 23% and revenues increased by empowering the Teams to be creative with new ideas such as using Agents in markets with minimal company sales force.  

 

Change Management:  Company sold for 30% above current market value due to the Teams focus on delivering goals that were a stretch but attainable.. Telecommunications Manager

 

Project Management: I was the lead for the Muni-wifi project and managed the telecommunications for the City Government and Utilities.  The muni-wifi project was the first of its kind in Colorado covering 22 square miles offering 6 megs of speed anywhere within the city limits.  Used the network for supporting 1st responders and government departments.  Supported the OC-12 circuits for power company’s SCADA  monitoring.

 

Contract Management:  I issued RFP's and recommended contractor for approval to the City Government Leadership.  Managed the contractor through the project and handled any conflicts.

Responsibilities: I directed and coordinated activities of all technical departments, materials, fleet, cable tv, POTS, Internet, Security, New Technology and Engineering departments for the Operations of the largest telecommunications cooperative in Texas. 

 

Change Management: I restructured all departments to work as one rather than operating on their own agenda:Engineering, NOC, Internet, Security, Construction, Procurement, Warehouse, Central Office, New Technology, Installation, Repair, Fleet, Building and Grounds.

 

Finance: I proposed and received approval for several capital projects including Fiber to the Home, GPS installation in all company vehicles and multi-millions of dollars for cable TV head-end and plant upgrade.  I worked to designed a fully functional Network Operations Center with state of the art technology bringing together Central Office, Internet, IT, CATV, Home Security and Technical Service Center.  Combined four departments (POTS, Internet, Security Services and CATV) into one focused operations and crossed trained both cable and phone technicians to perform all disciplines. 

 

Leadership: I motivated, mentored and trained my management team in basic management responsibilities to include performance management, time management and employee relations.  I Lead the New Technology Development for; IPTV, FTTH, HFC, IT, VOD, Internet, and IT support for small business.  I developed corporate workspace standards, planned and remodeled all office facilities to comply with ADA.

Leadership: I lead 10  managers and 156 CST's responsible for (364,000 customer lines) outside plant maintenance, cable pressurization, cable locates, training, residential, commercial and business installation & repair. My responsibilities included monthly operation reviews, quality and safety audits, expense budget adherence and sales, Public Utility Commission reporting and results analysis. Actively involved with the Teams to develop processes to increase productivity and minimize cost.

Human Relations: I was responsible for hiring, directing, training, and leading the OSP/Premise management Team for SBC-Telecoms start-up business in Denver, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and Salt Lake City.  Participated in customer visits and enterprise sales presentations to help insure accuracy and clarity of the services provided.

 

Technical Management: I ensured that installation and repair were done in a professional and courteous manner. All installations (POTS, PRI, DS1, 3, OC3-48, or Frame Relay) were completed to SBC Telecoms technical and Safety specifications. Actively involved with customer data analysis to ensure competitiveness in the markets.

Responsibility: I reported to the President of Video Services, provided guidance to the start-up Business Planning Management Team, to develop SBVS MDU/SDU overall marketing strategy, sales, operations, and financial business plan.

 

 

Human resources: I recruited, hired, and trained the Network, Call Center, and IT management Team. Facilitated Team to develop Methods and Procedures for operations, and directed the billing conversion to a new vendor to ensure accurate billing.

 

Accomplishments:  I worked to established customer service goals, and provided training required to achieve established goals.  Successfully developed plan and launched services in 5 states.

 

Other assigned responsibilities:I was also the  Director of Safety, Environmental Advisor, Director of Training, Project Manager, Fleet Manager, Building Manager, Vendor Contract Negotiator, and evaluated Vendors products for use.  I worked directly with Sony's engineers to develop a receiver that allowed a one wire solution for DirecTV and phone ID display on TV.  I was responsible for operations in Southwestern Bells core 5 MSA's (Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, St. Louis).

Responsibilities: Voucher Examiner determines the accuracy of the claims submitted by the providers and the beneficiaries. Authorize medical, ancillary care and travel for the civilian health and medical programs provided by the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) beneficiaries.

 

Duties: Verification of claims accuracy submitted to include mathematical computations, vendors, hospitals, clinic physicians, laboratories and veteran affairs location information. I am  knowledgeable  of the laws, regulations and procedures regarding entitlement payment for medical, dental, drugs and medicine, prosthetic s, transportation, durable medical equipment and residential care.  I process approximately 260 claims a day using a 10 key data entry processing, Microsoft office and HCR Program (VISTA).

 

Training: Claims processing stems from a six-week course given by the HCR. At the completion of this course, a certificate of completion was awarded.

 

Processing:  When processing claims, I apply all of the regulations, manuals and policies governing their correct use for the completion of a claim. The desk procedures are our method of researching any regulations, manuals, directive or policies.  Missing information includes; vendor information, diagnostic code (DX), which can be found using the Generic ICD-9-CM using the proper name of the diagnosis, or the number assigned to the diagnostic code, they are listed numerically or alphabetically. The information is researched using the Veterans Health Information Systems and  VISTA.. Discrepant data can be identified in three ways; first there is Discrepant Input, which is information that does not match the information on the bill. There are Reopened Claims; these are claims that have been through the process before and for some reason had to be returned to the provider or the beneficiaries for some type of missing information which would not allow the claim to be processed. There are mismatched documents; these are documented images that have been incorporated into the wrong Document Control Number (DCN). Vendor information is obtained by accessing VISTA.  CHAMPVA benefits are not paid until the claim has been filed with the  primary coverage insurance and an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for each insurance company is submitted.
