Electronic Technician A
Hughes Aircraft Company
- El Segundo, CA
Aug 1979 to Sep 1989
During my time at Hughes I was a member of the of the Electronic and Space Technicians union east 1553. My responsibilities were
to test the radar unit for F-15 and F/A 18 aircraft to insure the unit met the requirements established by the customer
Valid CA Class C Drivers license.
EPA 608 Universal Certified
Wet & Dry Pipe Sprinkler Systems Certification
NFPA 25 Training
Good verbal/written communication skills
(government). If it failed, then my responsibilities was to troubleshoot, repair the unit, and replace any component necessary to
bring the unit into compliance. After that we had to simulate the unit being at the north pole, or in the desert, and the unit had to
work. So we did environmental testing at -55c to +55c and the unit had to work within these parameters within a set amount of
time. One of the jobs I am good at is what they call mean-time-between-failures this is where you analyze the problem to see if
you can incorporate a solution or new design that will make it last longer or make it easier to repair. I like being on beginning
project where you have a lot of problems, prototypes, and new installations.
