Facility Technician
Provide operational support to multiple
areas of construction, installation/maintenance, customer, engineering and
business operations.
•
Gather, learn and evaluate information
from different sources to determine the cause of a problem, generate
alternative solutions and decide on a course of action to resolve the
problem.
•
Work at high heights, in confined spaces
and in various types of weather conditions. Duties included
maintaining test equipment, tools and vehicle. Install, repair, and
maintain outside plant facilities; cooper/fiber optic including
the installation/repair of Fios services: Voice, High
Speed Data, Video DSL, VDSL, ISDN. This includes various kinds of drop
wire, ground wire, network interfaces, telephones, terminating devices,
inside wires, and CPE.
•
Handle
cable failures in an expeditious manner, allowing customers to still
maintain dial tone. Repair/ Install module cards for
SLC-96,Series Litespan for large and small businesses. Install
and maintain POTS, ISDN, ADSL and high speed data communications.
(Residential and businesses) Perform work operations in connection with
providing telephone service.
•
Place, rearrange and remove outside
telephone plant, including aerial, underground, submarine, buried, block
and house cables, poles, and associated hardware fixtures and
equipment.
•
Read and interpret engineering plan,
install fiber in business and residential areas.
•
Perform installation and maintenance of
landline telephone service. Use test equipment to
isolate trouble in the telephone circuit and restore the telephone service
to its normal operating condition. Duties include understanding the work
order facility assignments to make the correct
facility connections to provision telephone service to the
customer premise. Coordinate with other departments to facilitate
changes to facility assignments and/or obtain assistance
resolving problems with the telephone circuit.
•
Place, remove, or repair wiring
between poles, buildings and underground.
•
Maintain placing standards for all
Construction work including DOT, Double Wood, FTTP, MDU, MTU and Damage
Restoral work.
•
Maintains schedule compliance, inventory
levels and Red line job completion deadlines.
•
Keep detailed records of work related
activities and maintained positive customer relations by explaining
services provided to consumer of the installation, repair or service.
•
Work safely and responsibly to reduce
damage to customer property and Verizon property to improve public
perception of the Verizon Construction Department
•
Continually searching for ways to reduce
code and improve efficiencies to deliver our products and services to our
customers and take share from competitors.

Closing out work orders and document work

Outside Plant
Technician/Lineman
Place,
rearranging and removing poles, lines, open wire, drop work with cables and
conduit to perform maintenance on outside plant equipment.
•
Install
lines and cables (including fiber), place 52’ of fiber cable per hr.
•
Work
outside as part of a team performing installation, maintenance and repair
on facilities that start from outside the Central Office (CO) and stop at
the terminal or at a customer's building.
•
Inspect
previously installed infrastructure to make sure it's working properly.
•
Install,
maintain and repair various telecom network elements.
•
Work
both inside and outside to test and repair equipment and services for our
customers.
•
Place aerial and underground copper and fiber cable, which includes
lashing fiber to existing copper, running fiber underground in a conduit,
running MDU (multi dwelling units) and placing hubs.
•
Perform
construction work such as placing cable and inner duct in various types of
conduit systems and open excavations.
•
Work
with heavy duty power equipment and small tools in the installation, repair
and maintenance.
•
Power-operated
digger/derrick, aerial beams (bucket trucks), winches, various tools used
in both overhead or underground lines construction and maintenance.
•
Operate
construction vehicles (up to 1,200 lbs.) in addition to vehicle auxiliaries
and other powered equipment.
•
Climb
wooden poles and the proper use of safety equipment and procedures.
•
Perform
various applications using copper, fiber and coax.
•
Maintain
communications wiring, color codes, and standards and regulations, along
with proper OSP bonding and grounding.
