     Responsible for the architecture of the global webcast/boardcast design for PepsiCo companies for providing internal and external IP video broadcast. Providing all technical input for the development of a video conferencing network that will include desktop video. Desiging the content delivery network CDN that will be used for all company video requirements and use for video to be accessible by customer’s for advertisements and promotions. Developing the wireless standard for IP video at the plants. This will be used to connect engineers to the manufacturing plants to do videos on with plant engineers to work through plant failures without requireing travel to the site. Designed the NSN (Network Service Node) this allows for cheaper local access to the carriers to bring layer3 MPLS to the NSN and connecting layer2 Ethernet transport for backbone traffic.

Providing technical input to product line teams for the development of DOCSIS based access and Headend equipment. Working with the cable operators to provide solutions to current issues and architecture designs that meets their needs to compete with the telephone companies. Provide technical input on several standards committees. Involved in the specification for CMAP (Converged Multi-Service Access) which is a product for the MSO’s to provide DOCSIS 3.0 standards with reduced space and power requirements and high dense QAM.  I am the technical lead for the current DPoE (DOCSIS PON over Ethernet) RFI from CableLabs. I am working with the cable operators(MSO) on the develop of DPoE and CMAP as a single chassis design.

Senior Staff Consultant/Architect for FiOS

Responsible for maintaining the FiOS video network for performance and updates for the Texas region including all network upgrades and channel adds. Participated in the weekly ORB calls and on several RFP teams for IPTV and VoIP equipment selection. Developed a backup architecture for the VHO system using edge modulation equipment Responsible for the FiOS video architecture with the development of the Super Headend and Video Headend concept.  Responsible for providing engineering cost, and writing the M&P’s for operating and managing the system. Developed the engineering and operations practices for the SHE (super headend) and VHO (video headend) of Verizon’s new network.  Developed the specification for the GigE transport for VOD, which is MPEG-2 compression algorithm that is delivered as IPTV to the set top box. FiOS uses 1550 wavelength for broadcast video, 1490 wavelength for data and narrowcast video (VOD), and 1310 for reverse to the VHO. Developed and wrote the standards for edge modulation using BigBand systems at the central office. This system allows the optic RF signal to be able to meet CNR carrier to noise standards for optical RF up to 42km. The system will also allow for switch digital video. On the team responsible for developing standards and specifications to move from optical RF to IPTV in the near future using the existing fiber network.  Involved in establishing the standards for VoIP testing on the FiOS network. Project management of the ad insertion project for the Video Headend, including the testing of the new systems. Developed the VoIP architecture for the FiOS network with all the asset, IP directory, and soft switch servers.  Designed IP hair pen routing to avoid any PSTN switch on IP to IP calls. Architect the catcher and pitcher server design for the VDO systems (Seachange) at both the SHE’s and VHO’s.

Chief Engineer Cable/Wireless Systems

Responsible for the architecture of the Hybrid Fiber Coax network upgrades for handling the convergence to digital video using IPTV for VOD applications. Worked with Marketing and Sales on customer requirements for new network architectur which would be fiber to the home (FTTH). Responsible for the design and deployment of all wireless unlicensed 900 MHz and licensed 700 MHz data networks. Providing IP telephony on the wireless network, which was a symmetrical design. Responsible for the design of Nortex cable systems to 860MHz two way plants to offer high speed data and VoIP.  Tested several gateways that allowed IP telephony trails on the CATV systems. These gateways are CALEA compliant and using NIDs network interface units with battery backup the systems can be used as primary networks for the cable customers. Redesigned the data network for more reliability and growth. Designed and established standards for IP video over the existing copper plant using Motorola remotes. Designed a FTTP network for deployment into a new subdivision.  Designed the standards for their IPTV offering on the FTTP network. Also designed and built a new Headend that will allowed digital video and HDTV. Planned for testing video on demand, switch video, and IPTV trails Microsoft as the vender. Sat on several standards panels for MPEG4 and H.264. Responsible for setting up and training operations people to run the new Headend. Set standards for all outside plant requirements for a FTTP network. Staffed and trained all outside plant engineers.

Responsible for the architecture, development, and deployment of the Ionex broadband network.  Responsible for staffing and management of engineering, design, and operations. Responsible for the design and deployment of Ionex VoIP and IPTV product using DSL as the local transport.  Involved in all day-to-day operations issues from running the NOC to interfacing with the testing and turn up organizations.  Designed and deployed the first voice over DSL application.  Tested a wireless application providing up to 100Mbps of bandwidth to customers. Developed the Ionex network as an ATM based network that handles voice and data over a single infrastructure.  Designed the VOD applications to be used on the Ionex network. Responsible for the development of the architectural design for US West Media Group/ Time Warner joint venture cable telephony and data modem networks.  Developed a cable telephony design that will utilize the cable plants optical nodes for the installation of a RAD (remote access device).  This approach allows the CATV infrastructure to be the backbone for a wireless local loop network.  This project has allowed for the development of two new patents for the optical node and the CPE equipment.  Developed the reverse path-testing plan for the CATV, passive bassband network.  Developed the network design application for Telnet in Belgium, a US WEST joint venture.  This is a full service network application that includes CATV, local loop, and GSM wireless networks. Responsible for developing all the requirements for an engineering department that will support all international ventures for central engineering and design.  Developed the design requirements for digital video to be introduced at the 550 MHz to 750/860 MHz spectrums to increase the current channel line up from 75 to 500 channels.  This has been designed and developed using the analog channels from 54 MHz to 500MHz and adding digital to the remainder of the spectrum. Engineer increasing the reverse by bonding channels 2 to 6 to increase bandwidth. Wrote all M&P’s on how to operate the Headends. Trained all operations technicians on maintaining and operating the Headend. Designed and built the SONET/SDH networks to support video, voice and data for the new green field networks in a joint venture with several power companies in Europe and South America. Worked on architecture for a wireless network using CDMA for both US West and TWC’s planned joint wireless venture.
