Provided comprehensive project leadership and technical managerial oversight for a wide range of Verizon projects being developed for major clients throughout the Maryland, Virginia, DC region—including White House/Camp David installations and upgrades.

RESULTS              •              Successfully managed 96 entrance facility installation and upgrade projects, including SONET rings, upgrades and removals.  (SONET-based fiber rings provided two separate transmission paths and instant re-routing, to prevent interruptions due to failures in the local loop.  SONET offered Verizon customers high-capacity access between their site locations and two (2) or more Verizon-designated wire centers.  Entrance facility projects involved public and private network service cabling, including entrance points at the building wall, continuing to the entrance space/room; this involved connecting hardware for the transition between indoor and outdoor cable.)

              •              Many of these projects—18 of 96 projects—were completed ahead of schedule. 

              •              Successfully completed 12 Intelilight Dedicated SONET Rings (IDSR) projects.   These are custom rings dedicated to a single customer.

 

Selected for Presidential-level project leadership and troubleshooting on an as-needed basis.

RESULTS              •              Successfully managed action plans to provide equipment diversification for Camp David, MD.             

              •              Project managed sensitive emergency projects for Camp David on an as needed basis. Details of these projects cannot be stated because it would violate federal security requirements.

              •   Single point of contact, directed conference calls and attended meetings for Camp David with the following Verizon organizations:  National Construction, Network Operations, Federal Systems, Switch Database Manager, Hunt Valley Translations, Live Wire, Outside  Plant (OSP) and Recent Change Memory Administration Center (RCMAC.

              •              All telecommunications services at Camp David were working flawlessly upon the conclusion of my tenure in November 2003.

Senior project liaison and troubleshooter,addressing and resolving a wide range of technical and managerial concerns.

RESULTS              •              Coordinated site survey calls between CNE engineers via CNE database, with Outside Plant, National Construction , as well as vendors, customer, and Field Engineers. 

              •              These calls were crucial in coordinating access to customers’ sites for engineering  each project.  Customer requirements, available space and the availability of fiber also were taken into account in coordinating and engineering projects.

              •              Provided weekly updates on status of various projects.  Kept account team and other key players informed of critical problems as well as milestone goals. 

              •              Frequently attended meetings to discuss Network Operations Center (NOC) and Field Engineering issues and their impact on Inter-Office Facilities (IOF) and Entrance Facility rings.              

              •              Attended hot ring calls every Monday with my team.              

              •              Single point of contact for Master Fiber List, region-wide.  Managed and recorded status on many fiber jobs listed on master Fiber List.  Ensured that each leg of the planned assignment was coordinated with the next-task unit in a timely manner, enabling jobs to arrived in the field as scheduled             

              •              Single point of contact for construction and relay rack locations, and loss reading forms for each completed fiber job, checking for any light escaping from fiber.

              •              Attended monthly fiber job meetings in MD, DC and Annapolis with OSP and National Construction units.

              •              Supported escalations for current and future fiber jobs. 

              •              Provided status reports to IOF planners, field engineers and project management team members.  Coordinated with NOC and Construction, fiber rolls requested by IOF planning.

              •              Recipient, Director’s Recognition Award on establishing a new ring by rolling 33 working Digital Signal Level 3s (DS3s) from a failing ring.

              •              Attended StatNet overview meeting to support campaign for buy into the system.

              •              Supported group members and provided directly relevant training for new members of the team.

              • Provided follow-up reports after site surveys concerning issues to the account team, my manager and director.  Dates for completion of outstanding jobs would be adjusted accordingly, as situations warranted.  

              •              Managed any necessary escalation of problem-related communications.

RESULTS              •              Proficient in using databases containing data on projects: Tracker (tracked telephone equipment order to update progression of each job), TIRKS (Trunks Integrated Records Keeping System), StatNet (new mechanized database for tracking fiber jobs), CMA, and CBS/CNE (Central Network Engineering). 

              •              Primary manager in tracking and completing 83% of all fiber builds—35 of 45.  The remaining 10 fiber builds were not completed because of the company’s budget constraints.

              •              Instrumental in execution of Construction Maintenance Administration (CMA) database to support Broadband Agreement.  The CMA database belonged to Verizon’s Outside Switching Plant (OSP) construction group. 

              •              This database was able to price out a job in terms of man-hours after the vendor had engineering and input job steps into the database via remote access. 

              •              The job would be sent to any construction region that would be doing that job, so it could abstract a job packet from this database—giving that unit a tool through which to charge for staff time.  Successfully executed this new CMA process with several key vendors including Orius, Lucent, and Fujitsu.
