Within Charter’s lab environment I am currently accountable for the overall development and implementation of Optical/ROADM performance test plan/test on a multiplicity of  vendor(s) DWDM/ROADM platforms, transponders, optical passive filters, EDFA, XFP, 100G CFPs and software regression and feature testing.

As an Optical  Proof of Concept Engineer my test bench includes intensive exposure to the following testing platforms: EXFO FLS 2600B Tunable Laser Source,  Polatis, IXIA XG12, FTB 500 ( OSA, ILOM Cisco SR10/LR4 100G CFP and FTB 8130NGE modules) JDSU  HST-3000) and  many other various testing application(s).

Examples of the category of testing that I am responsible for performing are as follows: Adjacent Channel Isolation, Laser Drift, Insertion Loss, PDL adjustments,  IEEE 802.3ba 100G testing ( Identical pattern test,  Increased/Decreased Voltage Test, Sing Lane Mapping Skew Testing) Coherent transmission, ODU Client Signal Mapping) RFC2544, 72 hour Bert Testing) SFP/XFP Dom readings. With minimal supervision I perform substantially varied and complex task, develop and execute procedures, test plans, and equipment configurations as well as review architectural design requirements and develop test cases and test scripts for and gathering data related to test automation plans. Responsible for analyzing the test results and publishing the test results from a companywide prospective for adherence and compliance.  I engage, challenge and negotiate with vendors as well as research product specs. I install and configure networking equipment that simulates real-world networks and topologies. Report issues found and perform related trouble-shooting and working with strategic partners to identify and resolved. My input and recommendation are required and respected by Charters Principle Optical Engineer, upper Management as to what product will be positioned within Charters network from a cost functionality and network requirement prospective.

Developed and Delivered technical and modular based courseware in compliance with TL 9000 standard in supports of Tellabs flagship 7100 OTS ROADM optical product line and associated technologies ( ASON GMPLS Directionless Control Plane, Resilient VLAN Tunneling, VDSL2 PTM BONDING,OTN and Packet Optical Transport).  Authored and published comprehensive marketing requirements, customer engineering test plans and configuration documentation including enhanced photonic layer Control Plane features such: Directionless, Colorless, Contentionless, and engineering test plans for Tellabs Internal and International customers. My key role was to support Product Launch Support in strategically positioning, introducing and rolling out the ASON/MPLS control Plane application. I also traveled extensively abroad (Internationally) to key market areas to support Pre and Post Sales (both in EMEA and APEC) efforts by addressing customer problem statements and providing cost effective solutions, creating BOMS, performing lab trails and customer demo all of which revolved around the ASON Control Plane (both layers 1 and 2). I specialized in implementing 10 GigE cell site backhaul for wireless carriers (i.e. SPRINT, Verizon Wireless and AT&T) to help support 2G (EVDO, HSPA) and 4G (WiMax, LTE) wireless deployments by migrating wireless provider onto new fiber build and/or point to point microwave.  Developed and commissioned initially configurations file, groomed, tagged and assigned VLAN policies and SLAs, migrated L2 VPN traffic and 1G services from MRV OptiSwitch 900 to point of aggregation (Extreme Summit X670). Performed INNI testing with wireless provider. Responsible for adding GigE, 10G optics channels to active DWDM systems. My duties also included stress testing, optical budgeting, fiber characterization, and all related ODU2 and OTU component level.
