FTTP Engineer – HEPCO

 

I work in the SPOC as a fios and pots and dsl tech support eng, responsible for taking care of orders that have problems with facilities in the field. This is accomplished by use of many software applications. This includes IDDS, ICGS, IVAPP, BDMS, lfacs, MICROSTATION cad program and excell. I research the problem the fios tech has and come up with a solution to provide fios service to the customer.

 

July 2007 to January 2009

FTTP Engineer – Tesinc

 

Responsible for building Verizon's fiber optic network in the Northern Virginia area of Washington DC. This included building FTTP (fiber to the premise) ,MDU and researching right of way and obtains permits for this work from VDOT and counties of Virginia

 

Sep 2006 to July 2007

FTTP Engineer - Fujitsu

 

Responsible for building Verizon's fiber optic network in the Tampa, Florida region. I worked on Verizon premise as the lead engineer for FTTP in my areas. This included building FTTP (fiber to the premise) ,MDU and researching right of way and obtains permits for this work from Surrounding counties and FDOT. I used Smartplan, IDDS, ICGS, Rams and Microstation. I had the responsibility of overseeing contract engineers, Inspectors and fixing any problems that came up on my jobs.

OSP/ROW Design Engineer - Ameriss

Responsible for building Verizon's fiber optic network in the Northern Virginia area of Washington DC. This included building FTTP (fiber to the premise) ,MDU and researching right of way and obtains permits for this work from VDOT and counties of Virginia and Maryland.

May 2000 to Jan 2001
Design Engineer - MCI World Com

Responsible for building World Com’s Fiber Network in Northern Virginia Area. Hired and Managed Contract Engineers to build network. Managed fiber optic projects from proposal to construction. Worked with the inside plant engineers to build Points of Prescience (POP)’s at customer locations. Responsible for ISP engineering in the customers space. Managed the fiber recordkeeping and fiber assignments. Managed the splicing of the fiber in my area and worked with the outside construction forces in cable relocations because of VDOT or State road construction. All construction work was on a bid and I had to hold bid meetings and oversee the construction of the job.

1999 to April 2000
Design Engineer - OSP Consultants
Projects from proposal to completion in the Wash DC area. I have been responsible for pricing, designing and building multiple Fiber Projects, Cable TV and Aerial. I have completed Feasibility Studies for building Fiber Optic Routes in Boston, Phoenix, Miami and Cleveland.

1991 to 1999
Design engineer - Bell Atlantic
Fiber optic and special circuits in the Northern Virginia Area. Working in conjunction with the planning and estimate group to make the facilities available when needed and provided help in the spoc.Designed fiber optic routes to customer premises in Northern Virginia. Was responsible for customer requirements in the area of special circuit design and implementation. All designs had to be accomplished by an EWO.

1981 to 1990
Design Engineer - Bell Atlantic
Conduit design and highway relocation interfacing with VDOT and Fairfax County government in the relocation of telephone facilities in advance of road building. The construction of the manholes and conduit was done at the request of the planning engineers and was worked in conjunction with the area engineer. All Highway relocation was worked with the highway engineers and in conjunction with the building of the roads. The Highway relocation main job was to move the telephone plant in conjunction with the building of the highway. All construction of conduit was on a bid basis and I was responsible for budgeting and performing the bid process. All designs had to be accomplished by an EWO.

1977 to 1980
Design Engineer - C&P Telephone Company
Falls Church Area-building aerial and buried plant to provide telephone service to the area. Responsible for obtaining easements and permits to facilitate construction and work with the State and County regulatory agencies in the construction of telephone facilities. All designs had to be accomplished by an EWO.
