PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Enterprise Applications Administrator – Fluvanna County Public Schools July 2012 to Present

Work in a multifaceted role as systems manager for Fluvanna County School division as well as direct desktop support for the Fluvanna County High School.

·            Handle the division’s (High School, Middle School etc…) OS deployment, application deployment and security of desktops and laptops using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manger (SCCM).

·            Manage the Divisions two virtual environments using vSphere and VMM.

·            Provide desktop support for High School staff and students. HS consists of 120 teacher workstations, 150 teacher laptops and 275 student lab workstations

·            Ensure wired and wireless testing labs are updated and available for use during the many testing sessions given throughout the year. 

·            Install/terminate fiber and CAT6 wiring where needed.

 

Director of Intrado Services - Professional Communications (Blacksburg, VA) – July 2011 to July 2012

Managed and directed all activities related to various contracts Intrado held with Professional Communications (Pro Comm). Intrado provides 9-1-1 services and emergency service infrastructure to 9-1-1 telecommunication providers and public safety agencies. Responsible for Power 911 and Viper maintenance for 5 counties and 2 City PSAP’s (Public Safety Answer Points) in Virginia.

·         Regularly interfaced with Verizon and Intrado help desks for maintenance dispatches.

·         Responsible for emergency dispatches (50% system failure), on call 24/7 and required to be on site within 2 hrs.

·         Implemented preventative maintenance schedules and ensured that systems were kept current with the newest patches and service packs.

·         Designed and managed the placement of all VoIP and network wiring as it related to new Viper installations for Henrico County and the City of Richmond.

 

Information Technology Director - Fluvanna County (Palmyra, VA) – May 2007 to July 2011

Operated in a multifaceted role as Director for a small local government consisting of 9 departments spread throughout 5 buildings. Tasked with ensuring continuity and optimal uptime of the county’s various systems including Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and AS/400. Held all decision-making authority for network security issues, policies and implementations.

·         Consolidated, upgraded and secured county network infrastructure in coordination with the various departments.

·         Provided desktop support and network trouble shooting for county infrastructure.

·         Successfully upgraded the Internet connection from a fractional T1 to a full T3 by partnering with the school system using a microwave solution. Upgrade resulted in better service with minimal upfront and ongoing cost.

·         Responsible for IT budget submission on an annual basis.

·         Managed IT related purchases across all departments.

·         Liaison to the Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors and staff leadership for effectively communicating IT-relevant information.

·         Created and advertised various RFP’s for several projects that included but were not limited to:

o Rural Broadband Deployment which led to a public/private partnership for submission of stimulus funds

o Public Safety radio study

o Municipal Software System that included Budget, Finance, Treasurer and Commissioner of Revenue.

 

FTTP MDU (Multiple Dwelling Unit) Engineer - Verizon (Patchogue, NY) - February 2006 to May 2007

Provided design and administration of FIOS (FTTP) deployment to Multiple Dwelling Unit's in Suffolk County New York.

·         Supervised agents who made initial contact and secured “right of way” agreements with possible MDU properties.

·         Coordinated work efforts between Verizon contractors who provide field surveys and Verizon engineers who created work prints.

·         Ensured quality work prints were issued to Verizon construction crews and provided single point of contact for property owners during design and construction phases.

·         Validated and tracked invoices submitted by Verizon contractors and managed a MDU budget of $1.8 million.

·         Ensured the team provided necessary support to our MDU marketing counterparts.

 

 

Outside Plant Engineer (OSP) Network Engineer - Verizon (Patchogue, NY) - February 2005 to Feb 2006

OSP engineer for three wire centers in Suffolk County New York. Oversaw all aspects of plant improvement and worked with construction, maintenance and installation departments to provide the best possible service to Verizon customers.

·         Responsibilities included job design, creation of prints for construction, tracking of expenditures and completion of accounting records.

·         Ensured all prints, orders and cases met strict standards set by Verizon.

·         Public Service Commission (PSC) complaints and proactive maintenance requests were dealt with in a quality and timely manner.

 

Owner - MJR Systems (Islip Terrace, NY) October 2001 – February 2005

Owned and operated MJR Systems providing various Hi-Tech services, which included network and telecom wiring, security systems (i.e. surveillance, burglar, access control) and consulting.

·         Handled responses to RFP’s from the private and public sectors.

·         Negotiated contracts with companies such as Verizon to survey facilities for their new FIOS (FTTP) service.

·         Awarded contracts by Orange County, Town of Bedford Hill and NY State DMV

·         Supervised various sized crews that were responsible for installations and surveying work.

·         Managed equipment and material logistics for the various projects that were awarded.

·         Managed payroll and accounting for partners, employees and sub-contractors.

 

Project Manager - Esron Systems Inc. (Hicksville, NY) September 2000 - October 2001

Esron Systems was awarded a contract from Cablevision/Lightpath to port Westchester County Medical Center, Westchester County government and local municipality's dial tone from Verizon.

·         Coordinated work efforts between Lightpath, Verizon and Westchester County employees

·         Provided assistance to county officials in determining telecommunication needs and on-site training to personnel.

 

Turf Team Leader - Verizon / Bell Atlantic/ NYNEX / NY Telephone June 1993 – September 2000

Supervised 15 to 30 Field Technicians who provided quality and timely telecommunication service to residential and business customers for Bell Atlantic and its CLECs.
