Contract Engineer – Free Lance Contract Engineering services in the Telecommunications industry. Providing planning, detail design and construction supervision. Projects listed below are work assignments conducted as Independent Contractor:

 

Allendale Enterprises, Ltd. Mt. Vernon, New York

10550 from 8/2009 to present. Per Diem Operations Manager. Duties required supervision of staff personnel and to oversee audio/video systems and entertainment operations.  

 

Video Corporation of America – Contracted to provide system engineering and turn up of a HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) RF distribution system for the United Nations new office complex. The work required development of a project budget, Site Engineering Package from surveys and layout of an underground cable route on the UN campus, as well as, the ISP interface with a cable riser and floor distribution network. 7/2009 to 5/2010.

 

Defontes Broadcasting – Provide technical services for fiber STL (Studio Transmitter Link) Hamilton, Bermuda broadcast facilities

8/2008 to 3/2009. Developed Technical Bid Package for international broadcast of track and field Carifta Games 10/2011-4/2012

 

Verizon Communications – Telephone Outside Plant Engineer 8/1998 to 8/2008, subcontracted by Utility Services, Inc.,600 Johnson Ave., Bohemia, New York.

 

 

Verizon Communications Cont.:

 

Engineering project staff in New York City, performing Outside Plant Engineering for copper and fiber  telecommunications networks and facilities. Principle duties required planning and development of underground fiber distribution facilities for SONET ring deployment.  The work involved project costing, survey and design of Digital Loop Carrier systems. Provided Site Engineering packages for copper/fiber splicing and placement of feeder and distribution. The work involved design of Telecom Rooms with equipment racks, cable trays, cross connect frames and power for High rise commercial buildings and cabling networks to facilitate the required communications infrastructure to meet the specific customer needs. Designed and implemented new fiber underground facilities for Manhattan, covering 3 C.O. districts which included MH conduit and C.O. floor racking and LGX bay assignments, equipment interconnects and building POE’s. Provided disaster relief services for 911 recovery World Trade Center and the planning and implementation of network fiber facilities for the 2004 Republican National Convention.

 

Video Corporation of America - Contracted to develop a temporary and permanent Television Broadcast Studio Master Control room for New York Department of Education. This project required keeping a

Continuing “On Air” broadcast presents, while dismantling the

Existing studio master control room for upgrade.  This required the        

Consolidation of all essential source feeds, such as multiple satellites,

Recorded sources, cameras, special effect devices into two

Equipment racks. This task involved mounting program and preview

Monitors, waveform/vectorscope, video/audio DA’s and routing

Switcher. Developed schematic plans for equipment wiring. 

 

Communications Engineering, Inc. -  Contracted to design and turn up Audio/video RF distribution network for BET Studios and AFL-CIO Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

 

IBM Corporation - Contracted to design and install a fiber optic backbone system for audio/video CCTV applications to interface with broadband RF

 

IBM Corporation Cont.:

 

distribution systems and satellite feeds at its Austin, Texas manufacturing plant. This network interconnected 10 buildings within a 3 square mile campus. This involved utilizing a FTTP layout with underground conduit network and

each building’s fiber patch and cross connect equipment for bi-directional transmission services.

 

Phillip Morris - Contracted to design and installation support and test audio/video terminal processing equipment.  Integrated RF distributed network and backbone cabling system to LAN facilities for desktop video applications

 

Private Satellite Network, Inc. - Contracted to develop, design broadband business television systems for IBM’s nationwide communications network. As Lead Engineer, developed bid specifications for engineering design format and procedures. Reviewed all project designs of staff engineers for compliance prior to implementation. This required site survey of IBM’s office facilities to layout and deploy a cabling distribution infrastructure to implement broadband services.

 

Kmaps Corporation -  Provided survey and design services for cable tv systems In (MDU) multi-story residential buildings, Strand Mapping and highway and bridge communications cable service routing. This work required a complete design package with BOM for turnkey installation. Provided MDU survey for MMDS Wireless Cable antenna and equipment building roof top placement. Assignments were performed as a subcontractor to Cablevision, Continental Cable and Paragon, TWC Cable and Wireless Cable of New York in Westchester County and New York City.

 

Tri-Chroma Technical Consultants, Ltd. Mt Vernon, New York - Design Engineer, provide engineering services and project management for Broadcast Television, CCTV systems for commercial facilities. Provided Tron-Tek, Inc. Microwave link systems demo services for A/V ENG applications.

 

 

 

Volt information Sciences, Inc., Chicago, Illinois - Contracted to provide Telephone Outside Plant Engineering of aerial and underground facilities

This included Utility Pole “Make Ready” survey for Illinois Bell (Ameritech). The work required upgrade of plant infrastructure.

 

Al Hoty Establishment, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia - Contract Communications Engineer to Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO). Provided planning and engineering for a wide range of communications projects. Responsible for design, project management and installation of antenna towers and antenna array systems for remote communications HUTs.  Conducted off air

RF signal measurements to determine and map signal propagation patterns for Antenna type selection, tower height and location. Coordinated all phases of tower procurement, civil works, erection to cabling and grounding. The work also required development of cable underground and aerial infrastructure, along with cctv for refineries, tank farms, GOSP Facilities and CATV systems in commercial building networks. Prepared bid packages and evaluated outside contractor bids, drawings and CPM documents to insure compliance with project bid specifications. Developed aerial and underground cable distribution facilities for Eastern Province cities of Dhahran, Abquaiq, Ras Tanura and Udiliyah for (MDU) housing projects. This work required creation of specifications and designs for equipment and facilities to meet Military specification performance criteria.

 

Designeers, Inc., Totowa, New Jersey – Design Engineer contracted to provide engineering services to CBS Television Network in New York City.  Responsible for detail design of broadcast studio systems, control rooms, equipment centers and facilities. This work required design of equipment layout, racking and cabling, as well as, balanced power loading for hardware.
