Related Skills:
*Operate Electrically, Electronically,
and/or Hydraulically controlled Lock and Dam Gates, Control Valves, and
other associated Equipment required for passage of a variety of Private
and
Commercial
Traffic through the Lock structure and/or Maintenance of Required Pool
Levels.
*Perform
other Installation Repair and Maintenance tasks requiring application of
trade
skills
and knowledges.
*Perform
Shift Head Duties intermittently during personnel
shortages.
*Operate
light and horn signals to vessels entering
and
leaving lock chamber.
*Under
standing instructions or as directed, Contact boat pilots
to
obtain data such as number of passengers, tonnage and commodities being
transported,
point of origin and destination, etc., and following established procedures,
record
data plus information such as name of vessel, time of lockage, direction
of travel
and
other pertinent facts about lockage.
*Perform
a variety of tasks in providing assistance to and/or personally
performing
work
required for the installation, repair and maintenance of Lock and Dam
machinery
and equipment of mechanical or electrical type; concrete work, etc.
*Provide
similar assistance to maintenance repair crews engaged in major work on
lock or lock and
dam
appurtenant structures.
*Perform
continuing and special operational or functional
checks
on machinery to avoid untimely or dangerous equipment breakdown, and
identify
development
of unsafe situations, and reports same to supervisor.
*Operate
a variety of
power
driven hand tools and uses a variety of hand/mechanical tools to
accomplish the
maintenance
tasks.
*Operate
various types of floating plant and mobile equipment to
accomplish
tasks.
*Perform
various sub-journeyman work such as welding, plumbing,
carpentry,
painting, electrical, etc. in the performance of duties.
*Operate
a
variety
of equipment such as but not limited to: pick-up truck, dump truck,
forklift, frontend
loader,
bulldozer, tractor, bridge crane, motorboat and/or pontoon boat in the
performance
of various duties.
*Perform
seasonal duties such as: grass cutting, trimming, gardening, shoveling
snow,
clearing
ice, as well as janitorial tasks such as cleaning control house and other
