Planned and Designed Sites for deployment of equipment to provide High Speed Internet (BBE) to meet the merger commitment of 85% availability.

The purpose for this assignment was to provide the maximum availability of High Speed Internet at the least cost to meet the Broad Band Expansion (BBE) commitment of the merger between Frontier and Verizon.To achieve this goal we researched existing Carrier Sites/Interfaces with respect to number of house holds passed and existing field conditions. Based on the finding we would prepare a proposal that would provide the service. That would be compared to other sites and the most economical based upon the General Managers recommendations would be planned. This planning involved an on site survey meeting, preparing planning documents. We placed the pictures from the site survey along with a detailed study map, narrative, equipment quotes and pricing in a folder. The engineers then used the folder information to prepare the prints for construction.

Fiber Engineer

Engineered the placement of Fiber cable including field notes, proposals, J notes and prints for drafting.

The purpose for this assignment was to provide fiber cable to the Medical Facilities and the rural areas of Ohio.The Horizon Planners determined where the facilities were needed and we would ride the area to determine the fiber route. The goal of the ride was to maximize the penetration of fiber. We setup fiber loops at intersections and every 2,000' to allow for future deployments. I would then design the fiber placements aerial, buried or underground. this included joint use poles and building new pole lines. Prepared proposals and permit documents for Horizon to submit. Prepared detailed prints for drafting. Also field checked proposed routes to identify the work content.

The Outstate area we were responsible for consisted of 6000 square miles (111 Central Offices) from Youngstown to Ironton, OH. Conducted weekly conference calls to monitor Delayed Orders in order to provide service in a timely manner. Followed up all service orders for Cellular Towers for timely installations. Monitored RFD's thru completion. Prepared Litespan Plug Recovery Studies. Second Tier support for the area. Represented supervisor at Staff Meeting to act on his behalf regarding departmental affairs.

Project Manage Advantage Ohio, Coordinate with Independent Local Exchange Carriers, Coordinate CO Floor Space Forecasts.

The area I was responsible for is now the 740 area code. The Advantage Ohio provided fiber rings between all CO's and fiber to County Courthouses, Schools, Libraries and Jails. The project included placement of 588 miles of fiber cable and building of 42 Sonet Rings. Placement of the fiber included using active and abandoned railroad right of ways, road right of ways and private easements.Floor space in the 88 Central offices had to be coordinated for the Sonet equipment. Negotiations with ILECs was needed to go thru or use thier fibers for joint rings.Provided Second Tier support for Loop Planning in Southern Ohio.Designed the 5 state Ameritech Interstate Corporate Netwok which consisted of 4 OC48 Sonet Rings. To complete this project I also had to PM the build of 22 miles of fiber.
