WORK HISTORY

 

June 2012 – August 2013 KCI PUBLIC WORKS ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER TAMPA, FLORIDA

 

I designed and engineered Plan and Profile Drawings for KCI Engineering Public Works Department in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco County to build new underground conduit and manhole systems for road widening or utility work projects within the State or County right-of-way, for Number 1 Client Verizon. I worked with both Copper and Fiber Optic Cables. I am familiar with Copper Applications, Loading, X-Boxes, and Pair gain Devices, including FTTP Applications, FTTP Feeder & Distribution Hubs. I did field investigations, prepared City-State-County Permits, and invoicing for payment. I attended DOT Utility Meetings and Utility Coordination Meetings, worked with Utility Companies, Construction Contractors, Engineers, and Crews. I'm experienced in Plans Reading and resolving conflicts associated with field conditions. I laid out plans for red/green/brown design for proposed projects, and completed required paper work. I have taken and passed the DOT Plans Reading Course and have worked in both Metric and US Measurement projects. I have worked on Roadway Projects in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Manatee, Polk, and Venice County.

 

 

 

January 2011 – April 2012 OPTICA ENGINEERING, OPTICA NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES (ONT) OUTSIDE PLANT FIBER ENGINEER AND STAFF SUPPORT ENGINEER CARSON CITY, NEVADA

 

I was working as an Outside Plant Fiber Engineer and Staff Support Engineer for a 30 Million Dollar Federally Funded Stimulus Project for the State of Nevada in Carson City, Nevada. Engineering a Fiber Optic Cable Network Ring throughout the State of Nevada for the Nevada Hospital Association, (NHA), e-Care and Pinpoint Communications. This project was funded by the United States Stimulus Recovery Act, (20 million) and is in Partnership with Optica Network Technologies, Pinpoint Communications, (10 million) e-Care, Nevada Hospital Association, The Broadband Group, Nevada Energy, and the Department of Transportation.

 

I worked with the Bureau of Land Management, (BLM), the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Nevada Department of Transportation, (NDOT), and California Broadband Cooperation (CBC).

 

I compiled an extensive list of potential customers “Community Anchor Institutes”, (CAI) for future connection to proposed fiber ring, throughout the State of Nevada.

 

I obtained over 38, City, County, State, and Railroad Permit Forms and Contact List for submitting Permits and Encroachment paper work required for Approval to start Construction in Nevada.

 

I have compiled hundreds of miles of Power Pole information for NV Energy, from Distribution, Transmission, and Long Haul Transmission, “H” poles in the Reno, Carson City, Silver Springs, Yerington, and Gardnerville, including Poles on Indian Reservations.

 

I looked at thousands of poles for attaching proposed fiber and determining what make-ready would be required. Obtained pole circumference, class, height, type, utilities attached, and their position, type of power, transmission/distribution, their height, and spacing requirements from power. 

 

I used Garmin and Trimble GeoXT Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), to log Longitude & Latitude, and Elevation Data, and all data above into hand held device so data could be downloaded into AutoCAD. We used Laser Range Finders for distance to next pole, and to shot height of all utilities attached to the poles. We used LIDAR to provide a 3D image of objects like poles, wire, cables, rocks, terrain, and cable sag, for designing pull spans over 1,000’ long for use on upload of electronic construction drawings.

 

 

 

May 2010 AT&T OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEER NATIONAL DISASTER RELEIF NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

 

2010 Nashville, Tennessee and surrounding Flood area.  Nashville, Tennessee and the surrounding area, was declared a State Emergency, when Flood water from 19” inches of rain fell and the water crested at 51’ feet in the surrounding downtown Nashville and rural Tennessee areas.

 

I was one of 15 engineers ask to come in and help AT&T after Nashville was declared a State Emergency to survey cable routes to determine if water damage had occurred to AT&T’s paper and pic buried telephone cables. I designed replacement packages and costs to replace damaged buried and aerial cables.

 

I was the only engineer out of the 15engineers that was ask to stay on with AT&T in Nashville after the relief group work was completed.

 

 

 

February - May 2010 VERIZON OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEERING SPECIAL PROJECT TAMPA, FLORIDA

 

Three month Special Project for Hillsborough County School System to complete and release 329 work orders within 60 days. I logged, priced, and released 300 work order packages to scheduling and construction. I tracked and managed Fiber Outside Plant Work Orders in the Tampa and Hillsborough Area to provide two fibers to every school in Hillsborough County for Verizon.

March 2005 – August 2007 PROGRESSIVE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FTTP (FIBER TO THE PREMISES) FEEDER DESIGN ENGINEERING TAMPA/BRANDON, FLORIDA

 

Worked as a Staff Support Engineer in the PCS Satellite Office in Brandon/Tampa, Florida.

PCS has an off premises office to support the engineering and drafting functions for the area. I quality checked and corrected work order packages that were ready for submittal to Verizon. After approval I corrected errors found by Verizon Drafting Department during posting and drafting of construction prints. I also engineered and designed work order Revisions requested by Verizon.

Prior to support staff position I designed and engineered FTTP (Fiber To The Premises) Outside Plant Distribution and Feeder Fiber Construction Projects. I designed and engineered Drawings for Verizon’s Construction Department to build new underground conduit and fiber system to upgrade to the new fiber infrastructure. This included the placement of fiber cable, fiber terminals, FDH (Fiber Distribution Hubs) to provide telephone service, cable television, and high-speed data, for single and multi-family units, and business. I obtained and coordinated permits with local utilities and municipalities. I did field investigations, prepared City-State-County Permits, and invoicing for payment.

 

 

 

 

VERIZON FTTP (FIBER TO THE PREMISES) OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEERING TEMPLE TERRACE, FLORIDA

 

I engineered and managed Copper and Fiber Outside Plant Construction Projects in the Tampa Area for Verizon. I designed and engineered Drawings for Verizon’s Construction Department to build new underground conduit, fiber optical, and copper cable systems to upgrade new fiber infrastructure and to provide service to new customers and business. I supervised and managed the construction of projects that placed fiber cable, fiber terminals, FDH (Fiber Distribution Hubs) to provide telephone service, cable television, and high-speed data, for single and multi-family homes. I obtained lease agreements and permits with local utilities and municipalities, I coordinated construction, scheduling, purchasing, and permits. Once approved I tracked expenses and issued change orders for payment. I did field investigations, prepared City-State-County Permits, and invoicing for payment.

 

 

 

TAMPA BAY ENGINEERING INC. ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER CLEARWATER, FLORIDA

 

I represented and assisted GTE's Government Project Department with Design and Engineering of DOT Road Projects in Polk and Sarasota County, and attended DOT Utility Meetings for GTE. I design and engineering Plan and Profile Work Prints for GTE to be used to build new conduit, manholes, and cable systems for relocation or removal of GTE's facilities due to road widening. I also worked with Utility Construction, and Engineering Companies to coordinate and resolve construction problems. I was the Engineer of Contact for the State Road #70 Project in Venice and Sarasota County. I was the Engineer of Contact for the Polk County Bypass Expressway in Polk County.

 

 

 

AT&T REGIONAL SITE PROJECT MANAGER JACKSONVILLE & KEY WEST, FLORIDA

Managed Outside Plant Construction Projects in various cities in Florida and Georgia. I supervised and managed a 15 Million-Dollar Project with the United States Navy, Marines Corp. and Coast Guard to provide In-Room Telephone Service for the Bachelor Officers and Bachelor Enlisted Men's Quarters (On base housing). I successfully cut over 7 Navy Base and Naval Air Stations in Florida below budget and ahead of schedule, in less than one (1) year to provide telephone service to 5,000 Navy personal. I hired company approved Contractors for Engineering, Outside Plant Construction, and Crews for Inside Wiring. Construction Manager reported to me and I coordinated all construction, scheduling, purchasing, permits, and government approvals with the US Navy for a complete turn key project to AT&T.

 

 

 

INTERMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK PROJECT MANAGER OSP TAMPA, FLORIDA

 

Managed Outside Plant Construction Projects in various cities in the United State I supervised and managed a 2 Million-Dollar Project to place 22 miles of fiber optical cable (fiber ring) in Albany, NY. I managed construction projects that placed fiber rings and fiber cable to high-rise buildings to feed switch sites and customers. I established and submitted costs to build projects for funding, once approved I tracked expenses and issued purchase orders and payments. I obtained lease agreements and permits with local utilities and municipalities.  I hired Engineering and Drafting Firms, local management firms, and Construction companies to complete projects. Also managed projects in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA, Newark, NJ, New York, NY, Baltimore, MD, and Tallahassee, FL.
