I have worked in the construction field for the past 44 years. 

 

As a former owner of an underground utility contracting company and a small general construction company and currently employed with ITSI-Gilbane, my experience and responsibilities have changed, increased, and expanded over the course of my career and are but not limited to, the following;

 

§         Worked as an electrician and foreman for several electrical contracting companies and as a general superintendent for a general contractor in the early stages of my career.

§         Attend pre-bid meetings for the projects my company or the companies I have worked for were interested in bidding.

§         Doing take-offs from drawings, estimating, and bidding various projects.

§         Writing proposals, agreements, and contracts for various projects.

§         Responsible for tracking budgets, invoicing, billing, writing change orders, etc.

§         Coordinate and meet with owners, representatives, engineers, project managers, inspectors, etc. of local, state, and federal government agencies, civilian contractors and developers for proposed and projects in the working stages.

§         Attend and actively participate in budget and scheduling meetings, etc.

§         Conduct and participate in regularly scheduled progress meetings.

§         Consult, interface and brainstorm with owners, clients, managers, engineers, architects’, inspectors to resolve and develop solutions to problems as various situations might arise on active projects and/or for any projects considered in the future.

§         Assist in redesign and reengineering as situations might arise on projects.

§         Overall daily operation of a/the business, managing, and scheduling numerous crews to perform workload.

§         Supervised all phases of construction as general superintendent on various types of projects; vertical building construction, athletic complex, water treatment plant, underground utilities, structures, etc.

§         Supervising and scheduling of numerous inside, underground, and aerial work crews to perform various jobs.

§         Supervise and schedule subcontractors to perform their designated scope of work.

§         Supervise subordinates on a daily basis to achieve job completion.

§         Tracking progress and writing daily reports.

§         Place concrete encased ductbank systems, precast and cast in place concrete manholes, handholes, and equipment pads, cast in place light pole foundations, etc. for underground infrastructure.

§         Experienced in water, sewer, storm drain placement and rehabilitation.

§         Experience in placing all underground utility systems.

§         Experienced operator of various types of heavy construction equipment; track excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, etc.

§         Experienced with various methods of trenchless technology.

Construct 3 ANA Kandak Sights -On slab K-Span type buildings on Afghan National Army base adjacent to Camp Lightning, the US Military base (+/- $ 16,000,000.00 project).
