Robert
Langdale rdlangdale@yahoo.com 903.530.0189 Zackary Construction
Started out as
the second man on a three man boring crew. Within a few months I also
operated the winch truck for pulling the telephone cables in through conduit
under highways drives and other places where trenching was not possible.. A
couple of months later included in my duties were the actual running of the
boring crew. We were the largest AT&T contractor in the country until
divestiture mandated the breaking up of AT&T at which time I was laid
off. Paul’s Tree
Service & Trees Inc. Paul taught me
how to climb how to do treatments identify and treat problems related to
shrubs and trees. At Trees my main job was safety. Trimming trees was what we
did when it was safe to. I started by running the chipper and truck. I
learned the job and received my commercial license then , I received a
bucket truck and two grounds men to assist me in trimming trees back to
the required distance from the power lines. State
Department of Highways and Public Transportation I started out
as many young men and women do at the state, being a flagman. When the job is
done right and responsibly (in the middle of July in Texas) it is one of the
hardest you can have. I spent a summer doing this and then became an
equipment operator running various machines in the operation of building and
fixing different road services. After about a year an opening came open for a
sign man in the district where I worked. I got the job and made my way to
lead sign man responsible for the crew and a large area encompassing northern
Smith and parts of two other counties. My responsibilities included training
and making sure that everything the crew installed repaired, built etc. was
legal, safe, really needed, completed in the most economical way following
laws, rules, and guidelines in the manual on uniform traffic control devices. One example of
my duties and responsibilities is as follows, A major highway ,69, from Tyler
to interstate 20 was going to be totally redone everything being new. Prior
to the work starting I had to plot everything out on maps to insure the
correct placement of every sign, mailbox delineator , all you can think of
along a major road. I and my crew completed all work on time and without any
accidents. Tyler
Independent School District Part of the
grounds maintenance crew, running a turf master double front deck mower,
tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, blowers, also lead crew in some playground
upgrades. Occasionally filled in for school janitors on an emergency
situation. We took care of all TISD phases of property including spraying
planting pruning of trees and bushes and grasses including Rose
stadium. Worked events at the stadium and also made small
repairs.
Southwestern
Bell Telephone, SBCCustomer Service Technician At Bell I
started out as an installer/Customer Service Technician, out of the Farmers
Branch garage working out of several central offices. The things you would
encounter working out of this garage were the best and worst. The area
includes cables older than me making phones work like they have been since
forever to the newest multi-storied building in Los Colinas and smart houses
in Valley Ranch. The best and the worst equipment I could encounter in such a
small area. The experience was a great learning experience for me. I had to
learn to work on odd pic to the newest pair gain. From putting a jack in a
house that was about to fall down to setting up and installing telecom rooms
in multi-storied buildings. During this time at the company I was constantly
being sent to schools and classes to learn to be a better installer and
representative of the company. After about a year I would be loaned to repair
when I was needed. I worked out of this garage for five years then
transferred to a much more rural area. At this time I was going to many
schools and classes on test sets and fault location cable repair and
maintenance splicing. After a couple of years I became the cable repairman
and cf technician for my area. I have cleared prs for and repaired circuits,
pots, dsl, dry lines, and spliced up to nine hundred pr cables. I have also
worked in a central office, running jumpers, reading O.E’s changing out bad
or wrong cards in pg systems. An example of a job I have encountered on this
job, I had an order to install one phone line in a multi-storied building for
the new management company for the property. Of course it was about five pm
and I needed to get home that day. After some discussion with the customer we
discovered that the order was wrong. What the customer wanted was to add a
line to an existing hunt group that was about to be disconnected because the
previous management company had put in a disconnect order in for all of their
phone lines and circuits. The customer and I find all this out and the
customer is very upset. In the morning the customer would not have phone
lines in their office. It was going to make it very hard to manage the building
without phones in the office but that was the least of it. In order to have a
building open it has to have emergency phone lines fire alarm lines and these
were also to be cut off. Another technician finished his load and came to
help me. I was on the phone for hours and we had to change a lot of wires
around but we got enough lines in for them to run the building the next day
and they wrote us a letter of commendation.
Electriq Inc.Apprentice
Electrician I worked as a
commercial apprentice electrician pulling wire. While working for the company
we did all the cables transformers wire and hardware including plugs,
switches and lights in commercial job at Tyler Junior College. Qwest
Network Technician I was
responsible for the installation and sometime repair of phone and dsl’s in
the Flagstaff AZ area. The area you might cover in a day was incredible. This
forced you to think and act very carefully as you could find yourself in an
area with no phones, cell or otherwise, no people, no one to count on but
yourself. I had always been a careful worker, and liked to get things right
the first time. In the environments you encounter here, very quickly you
learn that it is imperative that you do these things. The time lost for not
getting it right the first time could be considerable, and if you were not
safe the consequences could be disastrous. I learned these things and some
others. At SBC I had worked with the engineers pretty closely in different
situations but while I was at Qwest I got to help the engineer on a small job
that would put in a term, take out an old SAI box and put in a small piece of
new cable. I did all the field notes ,identified all working lines, pairs,
and spoke to the customers about the work spliced in the 25 pr
terminal. I had no complaints. I also learned some other things from
some of the managers at Qwest. Things like taking responsibility for task
that were neither mine nor was I asked. Don’t get me wrong I had more
responsibility at the highway dept. and SBC, but these managers, especially
Robert Hill taught me how to do some things differently, and of course the
rough conditions in that part of the country dictated the method you would
use. He also changed the way I reacted in certain situations, as well as the
conditions, but I did learn things from these people if for no other reason
you have to approach situations differently because of the predicament you
could find yourself in. TEXCHEC
Elevator Technician Worked as a
Technician at multiple refineries from New Orleans to Houston mainly working
at the refineries around Bay view TX. My main task was preventive maintenance
on all types of lifts including one man lift of which no more can be
installed due to law. I had to pass all plant certifications for companies
such as EXXON-Mobil, Shell effectively all plants excluding B.P. in the
Baytown area. I also was responsible for the volumous paper work required for
lockouts in my area of operation. QPIM
Foreman Responsible
for two man crew inspecting and recording outside plant conditions and
recording the results into a database for use of the customers TXU & AEP

ordered it and is using it o evaluate power grids across the country. Schools,

Activities, and References With the State
Department of Highways I received commendations for several projects. While at SBC I
received several commendations from customers and also received several
honors for safety, and for saving the company a considerable amount of money
streamlining a process that now works for customers better than the old
process. Also while at
SBC I received a commendation and personal thanks from the city of Lindale TX
for work I did for the water department, the school system, and the Lindale
police department. When they needed something fixed they called me. I have been
thanked by many in law enforcement for my work with them in setting up legal
wire taps. While at Qwest
I also had a couple of commendations from happy customers. References: Robert Hill
