SUMMARY

 

    Senior QC Inspector/OSP Design Engineer for fiber optic cable placement with in depth experience in engineering design and construction. 

    Currently QC Fiber Inspector for Byers Engineering with detailed knowledge of fiber placement, splicing, testing and trouble shooting.  Experienced in the placement of cable both buried and aerial.  Highly proficient in many aspects of fiber service including Fiber To The Prem(FTTP) and Fiber To The Tower(FTTT).  Prior to current position, had extensive training as a fiber splicer with Verizon FTTP projects in VA and engineering design training with Mountain Ltd., performing services for Frontier and AT&T.  Previous assignment with Osmose Communications involved FTTT for Windstream/Verizon in West Virginia inspecting 150 sites and directing construction to address QC issues.  Also have a proven track record of operations management and the ability to promote teamwork to accomplish a common goal. Prior experience with Merck Pharmaceuticals and managing several small regional businesses before moving into the Fiber Industry.

    Fiber Construction Inspector, Byers Engineering, Berryville, VA  Jan ’14 to Present

Responsible for inspecting fiber and hand hole/surge box placement in Norfolk Southern and CSX Railroad right-of-ways.   Project involves construction of fiber from Pennsylvania through Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.  Maintain compliance with Century Link/Quest construction specifications while working closely with railroad representatives to ensure that safety and construction procedures are followed.  Also Railroad Roadway Safety certified.

              

                Lead QC Construction Inspector, BB Com/Osmose, Berryville,VA  July ’12-Jan. ‘14

            Began as Construction Inspector for Verizon/Windstream FTTP project in Morgantown, WV.

            Responsible for observing and directing construction crews during the course of placing fiber

          optic cable to the towers and for the backbones of the project.  Fiber placement is both buried

            and aerial.  Insured that crews were performing their jobs according to Windstream Specs as well

            as enforcing compliance with WV DOT, Frontier, CATV, safety and power company

            requirements.  Oct. 2012, was given the responsibility of Senior Quality Control

            Inspector for approximately 150 locations in four markets.  Daily activities included training of

            QC Inspectors, reviewing as-builts, punch lists, make-ready-work and RUSS Units charged for

            labor.  Upon correction of issues in the field, responsible for all verification of

            work completed, reconciling invoices and signing off on jobs for payment.

 

             

               OSP Design Engineer, Mountain Ltd., Hurricane, WV                                   June ’11-July ‘12

            Daily activities included the survey of assigned jobs in the field related to aerial, buried and

            manhole work.  Cable and equipment placement needed the use of existing or entirely new

            pathways.  Engineered necessary drawings to comply with customer and regulation requirements

            in order to provide service from point A to point B.  Engineering has included fiber and copper

            service to buildings and cell towers.  Also performed QC work of Windstream engineering

            prints. 

             

              Asst. Branch Manager, Home Paramount Pest Control, Winchester, VA        Nov. ’10-May ‘11

            This position required the daily management of service technicians who provided products and  

            services to a wide variety of commercial and residential customers.  Oversaw scheduling, fleet

            management and inventory control.

 

               Fiber Optic Cable Specialist, Verizon, Leesburg, VA                                        Feb. ’05-Dec ‘09

            Responsibilities included the providing of communication services through a fiber optic network

            from the CO to residential and commercial locations.  Project was FTTP new construction. 

            Daily activities included the interpretation of blueprints, cable splicing, fiber testing and repair

            and trouble- shooting fiber signal loss issues.  In commercial accounts installed equipment used

            to convert fiber signal to copper.  Also responsible for red-lining and reengineering blueprints

            based on changes made in the field including fiber count changes. Accustomed to a variety of

            splicing and test equipment.  Proficient at locating trouble spots and repairing splices in the field.

 

               Professional Representative II, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Winchester, VA      Mar. ’01-May ‘04

            Duties included calling on Health Care Providers in order to promote the diagnosis and treatment

            of specific diseases by the safest and most effective methods available.  Other aspects of the

            position included business analysis and planning, coordination of educational programs.
