SUMMARY

 

Nearly 32 years of experience working as an OSP Fiber Network Engineer, most recently for Byers Engineering Co. as a contract engineer working fiber projects for Level 3 Communications in the Albany, NY district. My prior experiences include areas such as BAU fiber optic, DLC and copper projects. Other projects included DOT road relocations, bridge rebuilds, railroad crossings, river crossings, manhole and conduit construction within highway limits and outside highway limits including all required permits and easements as required. I assembled the cost estimates, supporting documentation for funding approvals and tracked budgeted expenditure levels. I am capable of providing customer consultation from start to in service engineering.  I have vast experience designing customer fiber networks where point to point collapsed ring and ASWC service failure redundant technology and equipment was required to meet the service dependability issues. My FTTH experience dates back to the late 1990”s when AT&T trails were using fiber fed ONU technology both aerially and in the buried environments in the area of Stillwater, NY. My most recent work also involved PON technology deployment within the buried residential environments using new and existing infrastructure.

·   Network Engineer preforming all aspects of daily BAU field design.

·  Designed and engineered a new 15 mile long fiber optic distribution/feeder route along an existing copper cable route correcting substandard and hazardous conditions by replacing existing pole line structure, obtaining easements and highway permits for new aerial and buried equipment.

·  Corrected deficiencies in existing local and New York State DOT cable road crossing height standards.

·  Held joint make ready utility meetings with the local franchised power, CATV, and third party telecom carriers attached to existing poles correcting separation violations.

·  Work included seeding dark fibers at existing copper DLC sites targeted for conversion to fiber optic transmission equipment requiring eliminating and reversing an existing fiber optic feeder route through an existing bridge that was scheduled to be replaced.

·  CAD drafted and submitted all drawings using the MAPCOM M4 Cad Drafting system ,

·  Priced all Routine, Estimate level projects, prepared associated documentation for proper capital approvals

·  Provided guidance to the line and splicing construction crews throughout the project life.

·  Designed, staked and established new fiber optic routes along local public, NYS DOT highways, private property and within Federal Park Lands of the Adirondacks Mountains National Park in Upstate New York establishing a multicarrier cellular network along the mountain passes

ISP Circuit Design Engineer, OSP Design Engineer, Project Manager, Scheduling Engineer, NE Division Staff Budgets, Special Project Initiative Coordinator – All functions were in office, on Premise employee

 

·  Worked on as many as 50 small and large projects at any given time as a Project Manager, Budget Coordinator, customer contact for all activities from a customer complaint to FCC mandated infrastructure improvement in the Copper Network and Broadband Fiber Network Design Engineer,

·  Liaison to internal and external customers outside Verizon as well as departments within Verizon. Corporate level budget coordinator for the Upstate New York analog to Digital Broadband conversions of all the central office entities in the Upstate New York region.

·  Served on the Division Staff as the Budget Coordinator for the Capital and Expense programs.

·  Oversaw reporting for a $230M Capital program and a $60M Expense program.

·   Turf engineer responsible for all in turf Project Estimates, Budgeting in the correct timeframes and estimate accuracy.

·   Organized Contract Bid packages, arranged the bid meetings in the office and in the field locations. Served as Turf Administrator and Single Point of Contact for internal and external customers concerns.
