OSP Engineer /Project Manager Verizon

Responsible for designing upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to Verizon's Outside Plant telephone/Fiber network. This includes all structures (such as poles and conduit systems), cable (copper & fiber) and associated equipment for aerial, underground, buried, submarine, customer Fiber Optic systems, and provided QA/QC inspection for aerial and buried placement of Verizon Fiber Network.

OSP Engineer Responsibilities:

•          Providing Route planning and design of OSP Fiber Construction

•          Provide recommendation for changes in running line or construction methodologies due to knowledge of or experience in environmental conditions, construction access by crews, or congestion of utilities.

•            Accurately interpret underground utility records, power utility grid maps, railroad validation maps, and plat maps in order to prepare engineering field notes in sufficient clarity and detail to facilitate conversion to CADD programs.

•          Provide Fiber to Verizon Mobile tower and place conduit design for underground projects also prepare drawing permits and AutoCAD drafting for DOT and Philadelphia County.

•          Managed average of 10 – 12 OSP construction projects simultaneously.

Project Manage Responsibilities:

•          Pro-actively identified areas of network project completion risk related to scope, resource constraints, and process breakdowns.

•          Managed Field Data Collectors to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

•          Provides regional leadership and technical support to Field Engineers.

•          Supervised projects and interactions between both in-house and contractor Design/build agents Right-of-way and easement acquisitions.

•          Create and maintain a project schedule for each project by identifying and monitoring: overall project timeline, project milestones, tasks, resources, ETAs, task dependencies, and critical paths.

•          Interact with the local field engineers and splicers to manage and supervise projects to completion while providing project updates.

Field Operations/ Fleet Manager

My key responsibilities were, directly interfacing with customers and different internal departments, i.e., Network Engineers, Customer Operations, and Marketing in order to meet service requirements. Headend/ Plant Tech

Performed, installing, testing, operating, maintaining, and repairing to Dish Network headend and data equipment.  Performed advanced maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure minimal system outages. Performed Headend/Hub calibration, FCC performance tests, and field system performance tests.

Headend Responsibilities:

•          General Headend installation, to include pulling cable in floors and ceilings, dressing cable in racks, termination of COAX, AUDIO and LAN cables.

•          Follows established troubleshooting procedures to identify faults within the subscriber drop, feeder/distribution and trunk systems to ensure proper signal level, picture quality and compliance with all Local, State, Federal laws; requirements and standards.

•          Corrects faults in the aforementioned systems by adjusting, repairing or replacing passive and/or active components as required to maintain appropriate standards.

•          Utilized a field strength meter, optical test equipment, TDR, spectrum analyzer, QAM analyzer, hand tools and splicing tools to repair and/or make appropriate adjustments to the cable system.
