Pragmatic, multifaceted, Engineer with 20+ years combined experience in cross functional team development, cost estimation, transmission design and proactive project management, particularly within the utility industry. Though my experience is in Project Management within the utility industry, I will graduate in August of 2011 with a Bachelors Degree in Network Security and Forensics. AutoCAD Checker/Suport

Oversee 10 high school to college age students, hired by TVA to create, revise or transcribe manual drawings to AutoCAD. Verify accuracy and organize data into wiring, communications or physical prints of TVA substations.

Systematize and delegate workload, detailing scope and schedule. Spearhead an effort in continuous improvement to maximize resources, lower error rate and streamline workflow. Collaborate with multiple TVA departments to keep staff updated on work changes.

 

Notable Accomplishments

·            Slashed average error rate from 20% to < 5% through leveraging strong communication and leadership skills to CAD Techs.

·            Rocketed production 27%, transforming the most underachieving drafting lab in Chattanooga to one of the most productive labs of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

·            Initiated processes and procedures to identify personnel areas of weakness and provide clear, concise upgrading in AutoCAD usage skills.

 

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, Johnson City, Tennessee · 2006-2007

Leveraged previous work at Pointe General Contractors to lead real estate project management functions. Recruited 2 full time employees, 6 part-time staff, hiring subcontractors and 3^rd party vendors on a per project basis. Championed area research to locate and purchase homes in various states of repair, manage renovations of various complexity and sell to private or commercial interests. Supervised QA/QC of materials and work performed. Analyzed bids, awarding build outs/new construction to the highest quality, most cost effective party. Worked with local utilities to set specific timelines for service installation. Wrote and adhered to budget. Troubleshot project blueprints, quickly resolving challenges. Utilized local community resources to market and sell finished project.

Provider of electric power distribution and fiber optics communication within southeast Tennessee and north Georgia with 400 employees.

 

Engineer Tech 2

Worked with a diverse range of residential, commercial and industrial clients in the field to identify/quantify electric power requirements and best route of service delivery. Multitasked to manage several electric construction projects of various degrees of complexity at the same time. Take highly detailed notes to estimate costs to company and client. Wrote sales order, job details (via AutoCAD) and material/labor/overhead costs (via DCIS) for client to sign. Processed order and negotiated a proper project timeline. Used (overhead) poles and/or (underground) cables and pad mounted transformers to fulfill power requirements at optimal cost. Recognized by upper level management for superior customer service.

 

Determined best course of action, purchasing materials, equipment and specialized protection equipment for constructing new power lines, rebuilding existing lines, as well as pole and conductor replacement. Utilized MicroStation to design transmission (161kVA), and distribution (12kV and 4kV) power lines. Employed MS Excel to analyze customer fault current sheet to determine customer load factor and connected electric load. Supervised construction crews in QA/QC and ensuring route was precisely followed. Revised drawings due to unforeseen circumstances and/or real time project changes. Led negotiations and surveys of new electric routes right-of-way for path of service.

 

Notable Accomplishments

·            Led win-win negotiations of $1.2M in new business and electric power improvements < 1 year.

·            Responded quickly as company entered the fiber optic market, becoming certified in splicing, estimating $600K worth of make ready and $80K+ of new business in fiber installation.

·            Created an educational video to teach new engineers in best practices for power service estimation.

·            Re-engineered/replaced transformers, insulators, poles and/or wires to meet National Safety Electric Code on clearances between low and high voltage facilities.
