Design and Engineering

·    Designed aerial, buried and underground fiber optic cable placement to the premises in rural and urban wire centers of Buffalo, NY, working from Verizon’s planner documents, conduit records and field survey information. All designs used Verizon’s Advanced Terminal System (VATS) cables. Utilized Microsoft Excel to keep track of cable counts. Calculated cable lengths and identified service addresses, pole locations, anchors, strands, pedestals, conduit, terminals and splices. Posted design to Verizon’s GIS database utilizing graphic applications IDDS and ICGS running in Bentley’s Microstation J. Construction drawings were generated from the design sketches to 80% completion using Microsoft Office VISIO. VATS cable data was then entered into manufacture’s database for cable production.

·    Engineered the placement and installation of VRAD equipment for AT&T in San Jose, CA, using AT&T engineering documents locating: cross-connect cabinets, proposed VRAD locations, right of ways and electrical power. Determined: capacity/exhaust and relief of existing cross-connect cabinets based on LFACS and field crew information, roadway trenching, sidewalk removal, restoration, conduit placement, aerial make-ready, and manhole details. Using ARES application running in Microstation, data was entered into the graphic database and the necessary construction drawings were produced. Software applications: Imagine, Granite, ELP and CFAS were used to produce reports for pricing and materials.
