Once the equipment passed tested parameters I would install the equipment at
the customer sites domestically and internationally. There are only eight
systems in the world like the ones just designed. Four systems are running at
Varian Semiconductor being used by engineering and product development. The
other four are at different customers sites around the world. While running

Field Support Technician - Final
Assembly
Worked in Final Assembly/Integration at
Eaton Corporation which became Axcelis Corporation when it went public in
2001. Responsibilities were to build Ion Implanters. An implanter is capital
equipment that fires ions into silicon which get processed into computer
chips. These implanters
have a linear accelerator and large
magnets that control and focus the beam into a pinpoint. These systems are
eight different modules put
together with interconnections between
them. They use electricity, vacuum turbo’s, gases, air, water, fiber optics,
actuators pneumatics, and hydraulics. Systems would
be built at Axcelis Corp. make
appropriate facility connections, test all systems, then take it back apart
and ship it to the customer. Would then
go to the customer’s site and rebuild,
test, and sign it off to the customer. During this continuous process working
with quality assurance
and engineers to improve the product and
repeatability. The last project at Axcelis was transferring an acquired
company across state lines into
Massachusetts. Learned that company’s
products, trained new employees on the systems and set up the production

successful and made the company lots of
revenue for Axcelis. The systems are still being built and sold today
