I work in the REO (Real Estate Owned) Dept. where we resale foreclosed properties owned by Fannie Mae back to the public. My duties are to open new REO files using Perfect Practice, order title commitments through First American Title, schedule closings with buyer’s attorney. Draft closing packages, notarize and send out closing documents for each individual closing. Make sure the deeds are recorded in the seller’s name before property is sold. Upload and submit contract amendment to the seller. Complete deliverable tasks. I request zoning for Chicago non condo properties that are under contract. Look up water certs and place water in new buyer’s name and pay water once property has been scheduled to close. Create closing statements with seller’s figures to be placed on the HUD. Submit HUD for seller’s approval. I order HOA closing documents from various Condo Associations or Management companies. I fund closings make sure wire confirmation and buyer signed documents are sent to seller. Once property has closed, I close the file in our Perfect Practice system.

 

Students’ Legal Assistance Office, Paralegal Intern, May 21, 2012- Aug. 2, 2012. I drafted legal documents, observed interviews with client, interviewed clients concerning expungement, conducted legal research for different legal matters, made phone calls to clients and Jackson  County Clerk’s office regarding cases, answered calls that came into the office from potential clients, filed cases, opened and closed cases electronically, utilized a typewriter, scheduled appointments for clients with attorneys and law clerks, and  volunteered for two weeks after internship hours were completed.
