Project Experience

1.           Project: LDAP Integration of Novell eDirectory with the Oracle Internet Directory10.1.4.3. (Integration) (07/2013- Present)

Project Description: HTSI Portal is the primary communication and collaboration platform at HTSI. Several programs and functions including MOMS, NENS and HR utilize the Portal daily for customer deliverables, significant event reports and other important external customer and employee communications. A project was started in July 2013 to switch HTSI Portal authentication from HTSI Microsoft Active Directory (HTSI ATSC domain) to Corporate Novell eDirectory (Corporate LDAP). The project implementation has also spawned new learning in the space of directory integration due to the challenges it has seen. The most notable of them, was from the issue associated with the bind failure of the users while validating credentials over the SSL channel which almost shelved any further progress. Upon further investigation, it was found that eDirectory configured with high encryption level required a cipher suite of 128bit or above between for the connection to be set up. The cipher suites sent by the OID Java SSL connection during handshake were not acceptable to eDirectory with High Cipher level configured and thus, the SSL connections were failing.
The issue was logged with Oracle Development as Bug 9351324 : EDIRECTORY EXT AUTH PLUGIN WITH SSL FAILS WITH EDIRECTORY HIGH CIPHER LEVEL. The workaround found was to expand the list of supported cipher suites by adding additional ciphers to the existing ones to be used during the handshake and eventual connection set-up by the OID. The Oracle knowledge-base white paper: "Doc ID 1064939.1: OID External Authentication to Novell eDirectory With SSL Fails" was created documenting the issue and the resolution based upon my work and research on the project.

Role:

Involved from end-to-end upgrade and development on the OID side.

Involved in planning and replication of the production portal environment to QA portal environment encapsulating Oracle Identity Management and Repository.

Worked on the Oracle Directory Integration and Provisioning (ODIP) component for the creation of integration profiles for synchronization of user attributes and entities from the source eDirectory to the destination OID.

Implemented external authentication plugin for the authentication of users against the eDirectory through the OID.
