Worked in Florida Power & Light, FPL is a utility company that provides electrical services for Florida.  Worked in the Information Management department designing and developing critical systems for Internal and External Customers.  Hightlights of important projects:

 

- Architect and Technical Lead for Web Outage Report System (WORS).  WORS  was designed for FPL's customers to inquire and report power outages online.  This system is critical for FPL's operations year round.  It provides a desktop and mobile version.  This system was build using Java, JQuery and websphere.  The backend databases are Oracle, DB2 and Gemstone. During 9 years, I had the responsability of enhancing and maintaining the application.  Involved in every aspect of the system such as: database design, stored procedures, coding and analysis.

 

- Architect and Technical Lead FPL Customer Auto Registration.  This system allows customer online registration and reduces phonecalls to FPLs customer representatives. The system encrypts personalized URLs that are delivered to clients.  The application uses the following technologies: Java, Websphere, Oracle, DB2 and SOAP.  Led a group of programmers.

- Architect and Technical Lead for Power Systems Reports.  This is a mobile application that provides FPL Executives with customer interruption reports.  This system was designed for Blackberry phones and it was the first mobile application in the corporation.  This application uses complex Oracle queries that target FPL's data warehouse.  The reports are delivered using graphs.  Led, designed, developed and implemented the application. 

- Architect and Technical Lead for FPL Email Conversion Project.  This project allowed FPL to convert 4.8 million login identifications into emails. The system provides a centralized SOAP Web service that is used by Internal and External applications.  This system was built using Java, Oracle, LDAP, Smalltalk and Websphere.  Led a group of Software Engineers through the development of this system.

- Architect and Technical Lead FPL Preference Portal.  This project provides FPL customers with an interface to change notification settings that are delivered via SMTP, voice and SMS.  The system integrates internal systems and third party systems.  The application uses REST and SOAP services to communicate with Internal and External entities.  It was build using Java, Oracle and DB2.  Responsible for coordinating and leading efforts for development and business analysis.

- Technical Lead DSM/BES Reports.  This application provides internal customer with custom reports.  The application was developed using Java and Oracle.Technical Lead Supplier Portal.  This application provides external contractors with invoice and payable information.  The system uses SAP, Oracle and Java.
