Title: Sr. Software Planning Engineer

Project: Capacity Management

Project involved design and architecting capacity planning measurement executive decision-making tool.  Measurements for QWCC, BVoIP, C-VoIP platforms for capacity planning, from ACME Radius Server logs and Sylantro Application, Media, Route and Feature Servers.  Each of the call processing systems (mostly SUN fire V series) had different formats (flat files, SNMP queries and SQL Server) and approaches to storing logs related to call processing and call traffic metrics.  Systems were built to collect the logs and build reports for decision-making.  The reports were presented using interactive graphs using pivot tables and charts.  This was a project that was started from the ground up; hence templates and architecture were being developed.

·         Systems analysis and design of reporting system using VC++, VB, Access and MS Chart object.

·         Evaluated design to .NET framework to employ data acquisition into MySQL database and middle tier business objects utilizing .NET framework (UI Win Forms).

·         Installed related server components on Win 2000 for polling data.

Project: System Analysis and Process Automation

Project involved analyzing, designing and managing wholesale systems for both Access and local circuits.  Defects were collected and reported via a DSS (Decision Support System), technically a data warehouse.  These defects were constantly monitored for maintaining regulatory limits set by the different state and federal authorities.  Key components of the system were regularly altered for automation and improving processes.  These artifacts were IT components that were managed by a regular SDLC (Software design life cycle) and active PM (Project Management).  IT components were both legacy and current systems (using J2EE or .NET frameworks). 

Responsibilities:

Project: Optical Network Management (SONET and SDH)

Project involved analyzing, designing and developing connection manager tool for managing legacy trail components and current systems built using (J2EE framework).  Trail system managed optical network based on ITU-T G805 standards and supported both SONET and SDH layer.  The Trail system followed XDR based messaging between the UI (User Interface) layer and the Trail System.

Corresponding J2EE systems used EJB containers for MOB (managed object) interface.  The database was managed using Sybase via MOB.  Mapped faults from the NEs (Network Elements), for fault management and visual representation. 

Responsibilities:

·         Connection Manager Tool.

·         Created design requirements for the connection management tool.

·         SRD (Software Requirements Description) changes and Change Management (CM) for connection management prototype - Development.

·         SRD (Software Requirements Description) changes and Change Management (CM) for XDR interface to legacy system for network management.  The XDR messaging requirements were modeled on ITU-T G.805 layered components - Development.

Project: Postal Automation

Project involved analyzing, designing and developing USPS Reading and Coding Unit.  Managed yearly release of CASS certified software (VC++) by implementing requirements, regression testing and followed by alpha testing phases.  Designed and implemented a custom binarization algorithm which complemented the OCR engine to improve the machine reading accuracy. Followed SDLC (Software Design Life Cycle) process during the software development for ISO (International Standards Organization) based quality control.  Risk management for Y2K issues with regards to CASS certified software.  Responsibilities:

·         Postal Automation products:  Role was to develop a certified address lookup system as per annually published CASS rules by the USPS (US Postal Service).  By using an adaptive binarization algorithm got a competitive edge over Lockheed, which won us new contracts.
