Provided Data Architecture and Data Migration support for design of New Data Warehouse from multiple Data Sources for Medical Devices and associated Products as well as Conversion and Migration of Existing Oracle 11G and iSeries DB2 7.1 Sources to DB2 LUW 10.5. This included 5  different sources with the target being an DB2 LUW Database 10.5 using Blu Acceleration (Columnar Implementation) and Cognos as the Business Intelligence and Analysis tool and Infosphere Datastage and associated products for the ETL and Data Management processes. A CDC, ETL, and BI Tools Evaluation was conducted which included products from IBM, Informatica, Talend, Pentaho and Tableau. Master Data Management techniques used for Reference Data and Master Data analysis and definition as well as Metadata Management and Data Governance using Infosphere Governance Catalog. The project included Data Profiling and Mapping of the existing Data Sources and design of new Data Warehouse Architecture and testing using Blu Acceleration features. ER/Studio is being used as the Data Modeling tool initially and is being converted to Data Architect intgrated with Infosphere Metadata Repository. Other Tools and Software used included Oracle 11g, Informix, iSeries, and DB2 LUW under Lawson as the Source Data Structures.

Provided Database and Data Architecture support for implementation and design of a Consolidated Telecommunications Data Warehouse using Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW) appliance and dimensional modeling techniques combined with Agile Development. The project included consolidation of current Data Warehouses existing in 13 countries in Africa and South and Central America, test implementation of golden Gate software, . Sources included multiple SQL Server and Oracle based architectures. Source Data Ware houses ranged from 5 to 10 Terabytes in size for each with the ultimate Target estimated to be over 150 Terabytes in size. This included Data Model development using ERWin and Physical Data Base Implementation and support for multiple systems using Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and Service Oriented Architecture Techniques using Java-base (Hibernate) Development. Transformation Projects including both OLTP and Data Warehouse using OLAP in a Star-Schema Dimensional Structure and DataStage as an ETL Tool as well as manual ELT processes based upon Views and Utility processes. Also Installed Golden Gate and IBM Replication tools for test bed analysis and replication process usage. Was first involved re-architecting existing SQL Server 2005-based T-SQL-based system to add new functionality, change design for that functionality and provide flexibility and ability for a User-Friendly reporting structure. The Second involved a complete transformation of a Worldwide Multi-site Web Services provider (Google Competitor) based upon 8 different high-volume (multiple millions daily) SQL Server 2000/2005-based Applications and associated multiple Databases into a single Times-Ten and Oracle 11G 3-tier Architecture structure using Hibernate as a Development Tool on a Linux platform. This was a 5 billion transactions per day systems which included design and creation of a very large Data Warehouse (9TB+) for User and Customer Access using Cognos.

Provided Data, Data Base and Systems Architecture Support for Sate of New Jersey Medicare and Medicaid Management Information Systems.. This included Analysis of new Requirements and Regulatory issues and evaluation of needed Data Model modifications using ERWin and resultant Physical Data Base change creation and implementation and support. Development of needed Data Migration processes to support those changes was also required. . The current system was a IBM IMS/DC-based application with DB2 as the Source Database. Tools used include DB2 Utilities, various Candle products and Platinum products.

 

Dates:  June 2001 to May 2004 – Kaiser-Permanente – Pasadena, CA - Lead Data and Technical Architect

 

Medical Health Record System (EMR) 3-Tier System (NT/AIX/Mainframe) composed of NT-based ‘fat’ client, AIX-based application servers, and mainframe zOS DB2-based database server running stored procedures and triggers and Java-based SQL using DB2 Connect servers as well as Websphere. Primary responsibilities included end-to-end performance and problem determination for multiple versions, including Production. Resolved many Logical/Physical Data Model issues caused by incorrect Design. ERWin used as base Repository. Other responsibilities included defining specific problem areas, in particular performance an HIPPA verification as related to Database. This included the Database SQL calls, DB2 Connect Issues and Application Server problems as well as EMC RAID DASD device (Symmetrix) Implementation. System was then scrapped for a new Internet-based EMR called EPIC and associated. Data Migration and conversion planning was then begun. Extensive data verification and HIPAA-related analysis also performed.

Provided Data Architect and Database Administration Architecture support for all Health Care Systems applications including new Data Warehouses composed of Billing, Clinical, Prescription, Drug Interaction, Disease Analysis, Supplier and Provider systems.
