Ø       NBCS – NBCS stands for National Biomedical Computer System. It is a UNIX based, database driven complex system for managing blood donation and blood products.  There are 7 live production servers, with each server supporting multiple blood regions across the nation for their daily operations of collecting blood donations, processing into blood products, and distributing to hospitals. These production systems are mission critical; FDA regulated; and with “24 by 7” availability.

Ø       eBDR – eBDR stands for electronic Blood Donor Record system. This system consists of master laptops, client laptops, Wireless Access Points, Printers, Scanners and blood processing handheld units. The master laptops contain donor and donation information which has to be synchronized frequently with the main database on UNIX system.

Ø       InTouch– Intouch is an application in support ARC’s effort of reaching out to our donor base. InTouch has its own database which has to be synchronized frequently with NBCS. InTouch also has a web-based application which allows authorized users to perform various InTouchadministration tasks such as adding, editing, and deleting rule sets or blocktypes, configurations and drives.

Ø       eDOCS – eDOCS is a COTS product with heavy ARC customizations. IT is an automated documents management and distributing system which makes variety of documents available to ARC staff and volunteers.

Ø       SmartCAPA – SmartCAPA is another COTS product with heavy ARC customizations. It refers to the full system for ARC’s problem management needs.

Ø       NDDR  – National Donor Deferral Registry  isa custom built application used for managing donor defereal information from all 36 blood regions nation wide. It is an application regulated by the FDA..
