Marketing Data Analyst II at Sprint-Nextel

 

Responsibilities:

·               Designed and create a CRM Reporting system that reported on all inferred wireless sales from both business and consumer acquisition campaigns by utilizing my deep data mining/analysis skills, PL/SQL skills, my system design and database creation skills on multiple platforms.

·               From the Data Analyst working with the Acxiom data bases/warehouse, the CRM Data Analyst working with the Base Management Data Warehouse (BMW) and the Finance Data Analyst working with the finance, billing and Ensemble Data Warehouses, gathered and documented the data specifications required so I could create and load the Teradata data bases needed for the CRM Reporting System to produce the very cosmetic in-depth Excel reports for upper management, CRM management and finance management.

·               The documentation was created using MS (Word, Excel, Visio and OneNote).

·               The data was extracted, transformed and loaded (ETL) from various Data Warehouses to load the CRM Reporting System data bases.

·               Using Excel's ability to link cells and to link from sheet to sheet within a workbook, I created report models used to produce the very cosmetic reports then socialized/presented to management.  The reports contained pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.  Creating the models allowed me to populate the raw-data sheet (last sheet of the report) and all of the prior sheets (pivot tables, charts, graphs, summaries, stats, cover pages, etc.) were linked to cells on the raw-data page; thus saving a lot of time.

·               An interface was created to easily and quickly pass the final results of the queried campaign statistics to various Excel report models, with separate sections for finance, and CRM containing a tab per metric being analyzed and displayed.

·               Consumer campaigns had specific tests to determine what produced better sales results and the CRM reporting system showed if those tests were statistically significant or not.  The results were shown for both the promoted groups and the control groups.  

·               Management requested various Ad-Hoc reports requiring deep data mining with very complex SQL query instructions to find data and the Ad-Hoc reports were created by using Excel's ability to receive queried data from various database tables / data warehouses using either Teradata PL/SQL or Oracle PL/SQL combined with Excel's VLOOKUP, various sorts, VBA/macros that I wrote and other data manipulation methods to group analyze and summarize a vast amount of data quickly.

·               Extensive use of very advanced Microsoft Excel (nested if statements, complex formulas some using absolute, relative, indirect addressing, Vlookups, pivot tables and very complex VBA macros using OO coding.

·               The data base tables presented in charts from the Excel pivot tables allowed a complete 3 dimensional view of the campaign, showing over the campaign window of time, the separate groups within a campaign and the subscribers within a group that purchased a wireless product and all of the metrics relating to that subscriber.

·               The Data was obtained from the financial data bases using Oracle PL/SQL and stored procedures.  This system had to determine the inferred sales without the direct aid of the Acxiom data.

·               On the PC's Query Man was used to deep data mine to find data for Ad-Hoc reports, special queries to research questions about the results of a campaign and to thoroughly test complex queries before they were implemented into the CRM Reporting system.

·               Started evaluating the possibility of the CRM Reporting system being ported from the IBM Mainframe to the UNIX system / SAS / Enterprise Guide to facilitate an alternate system allowing the ease of user generated reports.  Utilized UNIX Commands, UNIX Editors and UNIX Scripts to perform the evaluation.

·               Attended internal CRM Siebel training sessions.

Responsibilities:

·               Analyze the commission data from both Relational Data Bases (CDMA) and (IDEN), extensive use of Excel, Access Data Base Manager and PL/SQL queries for both Oracle and Access in conjunction with Ensemble and Legacy Precedent 2000 Data Base Systems/Portals.

·               Develop PL/SQL queries for both Oracle and Access, creating search tools to improve the speed and accuracy of analyzing the appeals. 

·               Performed in depth research, data mining, retail / business field rep‘s sales discrepancies to obtain accurate results that impact monthly commissions paid;  Impacts approximately 20K field reps. 

·               Designed, developed and programmed many VBA macros/applications to automate and or enhance the manual processes done to scrub / validate the thousands of appeals a month and proof the manual adjustments were successfully uploaded to give credit to / pay the Reps. Heuristic Computer Software, Inc.                            September 1984 - June 2006  

Owner / President / Senior Business Analyst / Project Manager / Data Analyst / Financial Analyst / Programmer

 

Responsibilities:

·               Started Heuristic Computer Software (DBA), hired and managed employees to support and develop software for numerous clients. 

·               Managed employees and multiple simultaneous projects for numerous clients at various stages from software design to completion.  Using an Agile style of project management was able to deliver quality tested software on time.  HCS provided KIS Accounting/Manufacturing/POS Systems and unique specialty software for various businesses, money managers and software dealers within the US. All of the software developed used an extensive amount of PL/SQL and complex SQL queries.

·               For one of the largest Kansas City Crown Center Corporations, (Hallmark Cards) designed and developed a complex relational data bases and a computerized security system that controlled external and internal door access for thousands of employees to a multi floor, multi area, multi building, and multi location complex. Unique I/O driver were written to interface with the multiplexed door / badge / card readers. Complete relational data base application was created for the security department to manage the security of the complete complex from a command center.  This Corporation has facilities at other distant locations that also used this security system.

·               For one of the largest Kansas City bank's (Boatman's) main investment department, developed a very complex relational data bases and a user friendly, multi factor modeling and quantitative analysis application for the money managers, used to analyze buy/sell methodologies and back test the methodologies ability to accurately and consistently select from the stock market over long periods of time. The database contained millions of records and the applications/programs contained vast amounts of PL/SQL and very complex SQL queries. Very complex ETL solutions were developed/used to load the extensive amounts of historic and current data.

·               Enhanced KIS Accounting and Supported clients and dealers for KIS Accounting, KIS Manufacturing, and KIS POS.

·               Designed and added a soft EDI features to Purchase Orders, Order Entry allowing the users the ability to match the EDI requirements of their vendors to the fields/columns in the data bases. In Payroll added the EDI features to transmit the direct deposits to the banks and to direct file information to the IRS. In Accounts Receivable, Order Entry and POS added the EDI features to allow payment by Credit Card.  All of the EDI features to vendors, the banking deposits, IRS and credit cards had strict rules and internet security issues to follow.

·               Designed and added to KIS Accounting bar code scanning/printing to various applications to enhance the accuracy and speed of the data entry of those applications such as Point of Sale, Order Entry, Inventory, Manufacturing and UPS.  Inventory and UPS used various barcode/label printers. The Point of Sale and Order Entry also used credit card and check readers and interfaced the transactions to the companies for the credit card/check authorization/clearing.

·               For a Kansas City Printing company (Soli's Plus Printing) designed and created a manufacturing system fully integrated with KIS Accounting.  The Manufacturing System was designed soft to work with any manufacturing company.  Provided bill of materials, work in process, time/labor/material projections vs. actual, created other tools used by management evaluating production and cost in a manufacturing environment. 

·               For some sheet metal manufacturing companies in the Kansas City/western Missouri area supported KIS Accounting/Inventory/Manufacturing Systems.

·               For a job shop/manufacturing client in Memphis, TN (GMW, Inc.) supported KIS Accounting with an in-house job shop / manufacturing application.

·               For a Salt Lake, UT company (Intermountain Sweeper) that sold/installed/maintained/repaired industrial sweepers, cleaners and vacuum cleaning systems and their parts; converted to and supported the KIS Accounting/Inventory/Order Entry systems on SCO UNIX.

·               For a Topeka housing development client (Montara) supported KIS Job-Cost Accounting System.

·               For a NJ 5 and 10 Store and a CA Fly Fishing store Supported KIS Accounting/Inventory/POS/Order Entry Systems.

·               For a Kansas City Corporation that provides financial advice and information to numerous Fortune 500 / national clients and government agencies, developed a complex relational data bases and a user friendly software application used for the auditing of large corporation and State agency retirement / pension funds.

·               For Mast Ambulance converted their single user ambulance tracking system to a relational data base driven multi user ambulance tracking system using statistical and relational data base information to place ambulances close to where they will be needed next.

·               In 1996 negotiated and acquired the rights, source code, Trademarks and the Copyright for KIS Software and KIS Accounting. Continued developing, implementing, enhancing and porting the KIS Software and KIS Accounting to run on multiple platforms (AIX, UNIX, LINUX, Windows NT / 2K Professional / XP Professional).  KIS Software and KIS Accounting are written in Metropolis Basic. KIS Accounting is a relational data base driven, complete accounting system, fully integrated, and totally interfaced.   In porting KIS Accounting to AIX, UNIX, LINUX utilized UNIX Commands, UNIX Tools, UNIX Editors and UNIX Shell Scripts.

·               For the past 25 years, in the process of converting a client's data from one system to another, many relational data bases had to be learned and many programs had to be written in some esoteric / dead / proprietary language.
